This blog is specifically for my dice related posts. I’m a part-time dice maker.

The craft started because I wanted to learn how to work with resin for different products. Had friends interested in D&D and happened to find some cheaper dice molds, and magic happened.

Honestly, I love the idea of a vampire who only drinks blood taken from blood banks and hospitals, because it so beautifully encompasses someone who's more concerned with the vibes of something than the actual impact of it.

Drinking from someone on the street, barring some other condition they may have, isn't likely to kill them unless you gorge yourself. Taking blood packs? There's always a shortage of blood, and having even less of it runs the very real risk of getting someone killed in a way that is wholly out of your control once you've sipped on that blood. Someone you can't assure the innocence or guilt of, if you're the type of person who cares about that.

Despite that, in popular stuff, I often see discussions of drinking from a blood bank being somehow better or preferable, and yeah. No. The only thing it does is make you feel better while doing more harm, because of that degree of removal. You're effectively drinking blood from someone on the cusp of hypovolemic shock, but since it's not straight from the tap, some people seem to think it's better.

2 points to add on this. My mum was a blood bank tech (she’s now retired) and I’m drawing on some of her knowledge.

1) If the vampire would take AB blood (particularly AB+), that’s not a big loss. AB blood doesn’t have much use as those people can receive any other blood type, and it can’t be given to anyone else. Mum said that the her blood bank loved when someone with AB blood came in because they could give them one of the bags that was getting close to expiration so it wouldn’t be wasted.

(Side note: if you have AB blood and want to donate, donate your plasma. It’s much more useful to hospitals than your blood).

2) the vampire could take blood that’s about to expire. Blood, even when stored properly, is only good for about 3-4 months as that’s when red blood cells start breaking down. That could also be an ethical way of taking it from a blood bank.

I’m honestly not completely certain what to do about this.

I mentioned before that I received a commission for 100 sets of dice for a Kickstarter project. We agreed on a price, and I’d be paid 50% up front and 50% on delivery, which I found fair. And I agreed to a slight discount in price as the company will do a promotion for me.

However, I found out a few hours ago, this is well after I’ve bought the materials for all 100 sets and began working on them, that the commissioner has decided to drop it down to 50.

Here’s the body of the email (all identifying information has been removed).

This is rude. This is exceptionally rude.

50% of the total cost only covers the materials I bought for the 100 sets, and I’m very angry. And I’m not sure what to do because I’ve interacted with other folk with this company who I doubt know about this.

I don’t want to screw over those folk who have nothing to do with this, but at the same time, this type of thing can be very damaging for small businesses.

We derailed the campaign today

The only thing you need to know is that a character named Sin is now deceased and the assassin has the body. Here are some out of context quotes.

I’ll just use Sin as a raft. I can rip off his arm and use it as an oar.

@gay-impressionist and everyone else who might be curious: it’s all about the control they have over their muscles. Georgian dancers are renowned (at least in the theatre world) for having some of the most complex footwork— while the males are supposed to dance mostly through their feet and keep their upper half as rigid as possible, the female dancers are supposed to express themselves through their hands and heads only, their skirts concealing their walking/gliding.

What is happening is that Georgian dancers and ballet dancers are pretty similar when it comes to the effort they must use in order to show themselves as graceful on stage as possible, but while ballet dancers are using pointes to hold themselves on their toes during certain movements, female Georgian dancers wear shoes that have a bit of high heels and are, more or less, tiptoeing across the stage, with steps as small and quick as possible so the audience doesn’t have a chance to pay attention to the way their skirts spin everytime they take another step.

tl;dr The secret is that they are tiptoeing as fast as they can in the rythm of the music while keeping up the appearance that they are gliding across the floor.

I am not a Georgian, nor have I trained myself in their traditional dances, but I appreciate their culture’s dances so I thought I might explain what is actually happening (sorry if that didn’t make too much sense, I am not a professional dancer, just a very observant admirator).

On a similar note, when I read about some character moving so smoothly they appear to glide over the floor, I will be imagining they’re taking tiny fast steps.

The Georgian dancers are breathtaking to watch because of how their movements are designed to look like they’re gliding. There’s very little noticeable hip movement (from what I can see) which points out how precise and even their steps are. From the bits of what I know of the style, I will make the guess the secret lies in the knees.

Trying to analyze how the move just helps me appreciate how important movement is to dance styles and how it helps define them. I’m classically trained in ballet, tap, and jazz, and since I’m thinking about it, I’ll try to articulate it?

Ballet is usually started on a soft soled shoe to learn the basics and then move up to the hard shoes (pointe). The movements of ballet are a mix of hard and soft - your upper body, especially the arms, should have an air of appearing relaxed (hand, wrist, and arm placement are important for the illusion), but the movement of the feet need to be precise and sharp. This is very important on pointe since any buckling of the ankle can be dangerous. You also should barely make any noise when moving (a bit hard at times in pointe as there are blocks of wood in the toe of the shoes).

This is different from jazz dancing where your movements are often “louder” and help articulate the beat of the music. Your transitions between steps should still seem natural, light, and effortless, but the movements of the upper body often accentuates the foot work in ways not seen in ballet. You also have the option to use a heavier sound from say a landing or weight change to emphasize a beat which is usually bad form in ballet.

In tap, every movement focuses on sound. A simple pressure difference can drastically change a sound. You need to move in a way that creates clear sounds without adding extra by mistake. Your arms aren’t as important in tap - some routines will have strict and precise lines but, in my experience, a lot of tap dances allow for the momentum based gestures that occur naturally. Your feet are the stars. Posture, not so much.

As a side note, clogging is similar to tap, but posture is just as important as the sounds - you see very little arm movement in clogging. Movement is also very tightly controlled as many of their steps start and stop in the same place.

Customers sometimes forget that people who sell handmade items aren’t machines. Sometimes minor flaws or imperfections appear. We do our best to find them and, if possible, correct them, but we sometimes do missing things
