NIGHTCRAWLER TAIL TUTORIAL

Ever since I posted my most recent video of my Nightcrawler tail, my inbox has been filled with a bunch of miscellaneous questions of how I made it.

SO I just decided to give you guys a quick rundown with the WIP photos I’ve taken so far. Please feel free to use this method for your own cosplays, because the results are really amazing!! This can be used to make any type of moving tail, just edit the pattern to your liking!!

I loosely followed this tutorial, so credit for the original idea goes to him!! Between his and my tutorial, this way of making an articulated tail should be pretty clear :D

Supplies: -Paper -1 Craft foam board -X-Acto knife -Denim or some type of non-stretch sturdy fabric -Thick upholstery foam -Scissors -4-way stretch fabric

1) DIGITAL PLANNING

OKAY SO I started out with a digital pattern that I drew myself. I know I wanted it to be very long, so I made it as long as I thought possible without it dragging. IF IT DRAGS, YOUR TAIL WILL NOT SWAY. ALSO make sure your tail is horizontal to your body. If it goes vertical at any point, it will not sway with gravity. Please don’t make that mistake!!

Be sure to number your pieces!! It’ll save you a lot of tears later LOL Then cut apart each number box digitally, and place them onto separate document. Here’s exactly what my documents looked like:

Two space stations at opposite ends of the solar system both name themselves Wales, and neither will change it, so people start calling them Over Here Wales and Over There Wales, and which one is which is dependent on where you are in the solar system. 

On Earth, of course, Over Here Wales is, y’know, Actual Wales, which is what it’s called by the near-Earth-orbit collection of satellite communities.

On either of the Wales stations, however, they tend to refer to themselves as Wales and the other one as Other Wales, Thief Wales, Asshole Wales, or Wanker Wales.

It becomes a thing for people to apply random nicknames to each Wales, either depending on context or routing numbers for the distinction or pretending that there’s actually only one Wales, it just happens to be in three places at once. “Dirtball Wales” is easy; “Oot There Wales” could be either of the two space stations; “Good Wales” will reliably start a fight.

Eventually some aliens invade and accidentally split their forces because nobody bothered to inform them there are TWO Wales space stations so they pop in and start asking people where Wales is and get three sets of directions.

Also there are seven fuctillion places that are named some derivative of “Victoria.”

Wales the on-Earth country and Wales the space station, and the space station Wales is called Space Wales and their logo is several space whales arranged in a Wales-the-country shape.
