Well, I don’t think I’ve met one of you before. The name’s Demetri.
one of me? you know, to be honest, the feel1ngs mutual…
ruf1oh, f1gurat1vely at your serv1ce…
Yeah, one of you. I’m seen quadruples of people running around here. But you’re one of a kind so far. Congrats.
Also, Demetri. Not even figuratively at your service.

ironboundwastelander: “Especially if we can look back and give ourselves a ‘most improved’ award for quality of life.” He lets out a little chuckle at his own joke, if one could call it that. One could say, even though he’s never fathered kids and has no intent to, he’s a dad at heart.
“So, wanna continue chatting over a beer or two? Compare battle scars? Both metaphorical and literal.”
Even if a joke, the man is fairly correct. He has a pretty good point to make about that. There’s something distinct in a person who has clawed their way out of the gutter and made a home for themselves. It’s somewhere in the way they hold themselves; the way they react and see the world around them. He has it, his sister has it, and the man before him has it. No matter how much of a joke he makes of it; there is truth behind the comedy.
“I think that sounds like an evening well spent.” Demetri hasn’t really had much of a life outside of his sister due to...various reasons. But she’s safe, he’s in good health, and his evening is free for once in his life.
It’s said that 90% of people will see the same word first. Don’t cheat! Type the first 3 words you see in the comments and then look and see what everyone else saw!
Possible Jobs for Dave Strider that isn't a DJ or director
-Zoo Keeper/Veterinarian. He loves dead animals, maybe he likes them alive. -DJ trainee. A lot of places don’t keep DJ’s very long, maybe he’ll train other possible DJ’s instead. -Taxidermist. He likes dead animals. And taxidermists can make a lot of money, too. -Puppet assassin. -Juice tester. Come on. Tell me he wouldn’t dig this job. -Music Teacher. Tell me he wouldn’t dig this. The opportunity to teach assholes the joy of music, come on. -Animator. Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff? I bet Dave would love the opportunity to fiddle with high tec animation equipment. -Artist. Same for animator. I bet he could draw really well, honestly. -Voice actor. He’s from Texas, I bet his voice is all smooth and country. It’d be beautiful to hear. -Puppet assassin. -A “sideline” comedian. (One of those comedians that are mostly there for the other comedians. To leave snarky comments on the others jokes.) -Photographer. Photos that aren’t selfies. -Paleontologist. -Puppet assassin. -Photographers assistant. -Consider, puppet assassin.

“You didn’t do anythin’ wrong.” He points out, shrugging the hand away in the process of dismissing the topic. It happened a long time ago, and he’s pretty done being sad about it. His life has been unfortunate, but there’s nothing to do about it now. At least he provided enough support so his sister’s life was considerably better than his. “Life isn’t always the way we want it to be.” Well, rarely is for him, he’s noticed.
“Least you had someone, only folk I had were a shitty succession of foster parents and the buddies I made at West Point. Either way, it’s all in the past now, eh?” He tries to give a confidant grin, in spite of his obvious discomfort when mentioning his youth.
The pair have more in common than he figured, apparently. Having his sister had affected a lot, and really shaped him as a person. She’d only been maybe two when their parents had been killed, so all of her rearing had fallen on his shoulders. It had been a lot for a kid of thirteen to take on, but then again the state had made sure that the pair of children at least had a roof over their heads, no matter how many times that roof had changed over the years.
“Definitely right. Long as we survive, that’s all that matters in the end.” He can understand the reluctance to talk about such tough times. He doesn’t favor bringing up those sore spots either.
^our meter must be broken.
Your expectations of me seem to be what are broken.
M^ expectat/ons are low at th/s po/nt.
You can kiss my ass. Your high horse act ain’t impressing anybody.

‘’I – I guess I couldn’t stand a broken bone…?’’
She always had low tolerance for pain, even after she turned into a demon. She returns her hand clamped in her other one, bashfully, head lowered as her eyes watched him getting up without any sort of stress, or pain. Quite impressive… If Simon didn’t considered Demetri being this tall, this buff and this strong. She looked like a child, looking up at him with her mouth half opened, in admiration.
‘’That’s incredible…!’’
“I’ve broken more than my fair share. Ain’t nothin’ to be in a big fuss over.” He states. He’ll ice it later, and give it a few days to be fully functioning again and it should be fine. He draws to his full six foot three height, noticing that this time, she’s a lot smaller than the first time they’d encountered each other. He’s met plenty of supernatural, or other species beings in his life at this point so as to not question it.

ironboundwastelander:
“Ah, sorry about that.” He put on a sympathetic face, experimentally placing a hand on the other’s shoulder. He full well knows that if Demitri didn’t like it, that hand was going to leave, if it was a viable gesture, he would appreciate the sentiment. At least, that’s how Vlad thought it through.

“Let me guess, Russian heritage? Or at least Slavic of some form?”
The man shrugs. Truth is, his parents had died before he’d bothered to care about family trees. And he’s not really had inclination to go digging it up afterwards, either.
“Never really bothered with finding out, if I’m being honest.” For all he knows, his parents just could have been Slavic enthusiasts. “My sister’s name is Slavic too so it’s probably not far off the mark.”
send me a ❖ + a question and my muse will be forced to tell the truth.
‘ cutemoniic:
’But didn’t that hurt…?!’’
She asks, almost panicky, big eyes affixed on him with both awe and worry. The awe prevails, since Simon’s eyes were sparkling in admiration, hands still crossed in front of her mouth. Big eyes blinks at him in confusion too, before she reaches an hand to help him out. A very small hand, with long nails, but still strong enough to pull him up.
‘’Can you stand…?’’
“Depends on how you categorize pain, I guess.” He supplies as a vague answer. He brushes her offered help aside, because he’s fine and can stand quite well on his own. Furthermore, to him she is nothing more than another human, and a girl of her size probably wouldn’t be much aid to his massive figure anyway. Demetri rolls his shoulder one last time before he rolls himself forward to stand up. He’s a little sore, but it’ll pass in a few days. “Sure can.” He supplies. “Not too bad.”

“Sounds about right. Soon as anyone’s got a drawl it’s the end of all possible intelligence no matter how competent that person may or may not be.”
“Precisely, and that’s the last way anyone who knows me would describe me. On another note, me name’s Vlad.” He press out a hand, very worn, but still quite strong looking.“
Demetri takes the other mans palm in his own, brushing equally calloused and scarred flesh over the others in a firm shake. He’s not sure when it was last that he shook someone’s hand. Most people shy away from his presence, but there’s a first for everything. He gets the feeling that the man before him probably comes from similar circumstances as he did, anyway.
“Demetri.” He replies in kind.

I’d say I’ve been trying, but that’s not true.
Timing is always such a fickle, frustrating thing, is it not?
Mm. I’m more trying to waste time until my body decides I’m allowed to sleep. It’s 2 AM where I am.
It really is. I’ve learned to appreciate the irony of it all through the years. Better to accept it.
Ah, I gotcha. I ain’t much better off. It’s about one AM where I am.
