Champagne: This isn’t a church-run event anymore, so the bar is open and flows freely. The waiter-mice might give you judging looks if you make a fool of yourself, and really, how low do you have to go to be judged by a mouse?

"Lord Eliwood, it's been too long!"

Greeting him with a smile, Sain hands off a flute into Eliwood's hands. He has a habit of always carrying two with him--never knowing just who he'd run into.

"Come now. Let's just us men enjoy a nice drink. How have you fared in my absence? Picked up any new girls lately? If not, there certainly is no deficit of beauties at this ball!"

among all the chaos of this strange event, he hadn't quite expected sain to be his... knight in shining armor? he had to give the man credit, he seemed to show up whenever someone needed a laugh. he was a loyal knight, which was only rivaled by his eccentric manner of speaking. there was a time, at the start, where he had questioned lyn's choice in guards, but he knew better now. sain was not to be underestimated, in conversation or in battle.

"ah, sain, a familiar face at last." without much thought, the lord accepted the glass with a cheerful grin. he would never admit it, but he was still working up the courage to reach the bar himself. he took a deep sip before continuing on with the man, knowing that he'd surely need it. "you always get straight to the meat of things, sain. i'm afraid to say that i have no, uh- good news for you yet." he pondered how next to proceed in the conversation, something like this was far from his own tact. "thanks for the concern though, old friend, but i think i'll stick to finding hector or lyn first."

eliwood was in need of another familiar face, one that wasn't so intent on finding him a lover. well- that, and he also wanted to make sure that both of his friends were quite alright after all the commotion.

Her fingers fiddle with her bracelet that she keeps by her lap and out of sight as she offers him a slight uneasy smile. It wasn’t him that made her nervous, even in the strangest of circumstances, but what they were gathered here today to do. She almost let on that she knew him from elsewhere ( the future ) and she couldn’t bring herself to confess that she had also been courting him. ( Saints knew how her father took that news… )  

           Of course she didn’t want to deny his father from making a gift, but the thing was… the original conversation seemed to be lost in translation and while she hadn’t meant for it to come to this, there was nothing she could do to stop it either. As she recalled:

           “Lord Eliwood. Surely you have more knowledge than I have in a man’s preferences, could you assist me with something?” 

           And now they were at the table filled with florals, twine, and pliers. Perhaps this was to her advantage after all, she could glean an eye for what she might gift to Roy, separately. And she was sure her father would appreciate a gift as well. 

           “Alright, well, let us not waste any more time, shall we?” Lilina pulls forth a book she rented from the library describing all about different types of flowers and their meanings. “I… may have an idea of what he may like, but we can use this as a guide to make it extra special.”

eliwood took note of the book as she pulled it out, a tailored work for what they were doing. she had thought in advance to get material to study, why, it was almost like looking in a mirror. perhaps it was rude to think, but he might have believed she was more his daughter than hector's. he shooed the thought away before he could mull on it anymore, instead focusing up on the book she had prepared for them.

"this will be quite handy, thank you lilina. i take it you're rather studious, then?" when he'd asked her for help, he hadn't quite expected something like this. he had merely wanted some guidance for the perfect gift. after all, he knew little about his son at this point, though he wished to know more. it was a slow process however, and he wasn't going to rush things. for now, though, he could take some assistance from the people that were close to him. perhaps he had misread the situation when he asked her, but she seemed to be rather knowledgeable about roy.

"i just want to thank you again, lilina!" he started but paused again, unsure quite how to word his gratitude. "it's an odd feeling, i want to know all there is to know about him, but i know i'm not quite his father either. i'm at something of a crossroads here, but i'm hoping this gift might be a good stepping stone." a signature smile, beaming with appreciation, surely she had no idea just how much this meant to him.

"my apologies, it wasn't my intention to dampen the mood," he apologized before refocusing his efforts on the activity before him. he skimmed over some colors for hector before landing on a few that might suit him. "for hector... i think some cornflowers or marigolds might suit him well. they aren't very uncommon either, it seems!"

Though she had no skill with a sword, Igrene was happy to oversee a seminar hosted by many of the foreign swordsmen at the monastery, guests and visitors mingling in with longtime residents and students. As a professor, she felt as though it was the least she could do – she could not necessarily give specific pointers for the technique, dazzling and high-level as it was, but she could give pointers on focus, on the calm before unleashing the movement, on aiming to strike through your opponent. 

These skills of hers, at least, were translatable, and so she moved about the training area, mostly coordinating with small groups that had broken off to practice, breathing exercises, compliments when necessary, reassurances when not. 

It was after one of these moments, of quiet reassurance, to try again, try your hardest that she spotted what seemed like a familiar head of flaming hair, and she smiled softly, moving in that direction. 

"I suppose I could have expected you would be here," she said as she approached, noting idly that Roy had grown taller before the boy turned and she realized that it was not Roy at all, but a young man with a bearing of quiet dignity, of sad determination – he had a fire in his eyes, but not the same youthful wildfire of Roy, more a quiet smolder. 

"Excuse me, I seem to have mistaken you for another." She smiled gently, inclining her head in greeting. "You are a student? How are you faring with the technique?" she added, glancing at the sword in his hand.

gentle shoulder taps and kind words, these are usually honed tools for his own use. it isn't often that he is on the receiving of such actions, and it is rather strange. when he spoke to others, they always seemed to uplifted, if even a little. he wondered if deep inside they felt like he did now, defeated and even a little embarrassed. hearing those words thrown back at him now didn't seem to help in the slightest. nevertheless, he appreciated the instructors attempt at comfort, and gave a smile back at him in return.

" thank you, kind sir! i'm sure with a few more attempts and i'll be able to do it-" eliwood was not an unrealistic man, and because of this he knew that he was far from a few attempts away. still, it seemed to put a smile on the mans face, like he had tried to do earlier for the lord. after a few more pleasantries were exchanged, eliwood moved away for a small break. drink in hand and towel on his forehead, he enjoyed the brief break to it's fullest. it's not until he heard the calls of another, beckoning him to match voice with face.

she seems all too familiar, though he cannot say he's ever seen her prior to this moment. he can't help the laugh when she backtracks, it feels like introductions of this sort happen every single day here. he recalls his first time meeting his son, or even lilina for that matter. something told him this kind of situation would continue to find him for as long as he was here in fodlan. "greetings, my lady," even still, he was a lord, and so his introduction needed to always meet such standards, "i'm eliwood, soon to be marquess of pherae."

"so far i have had little luck learning these new techniques, i'm afraid. i don't foresee myself moving quite like that without quite a bit of practice first." huffs of defeat weren't befitting of lords and nobles, and yet he couldn't quite help himself. he'd never expected to pick up these new techniques like magic, but seeing others strive beside him had him feeling a tad left out. oh well, he would just have to practice twice as hard, like he always did. sheer talent alone had not gotten him through even a fraction of his journeys, it was hard work. "nevermind myself. i'd like to know if i might have your name?"

BEACH / POOL STARTERS What can I say? With school winding down, had some thoughts for starters based around water! Most of these can be applied to either a beach or pool setting. Add +  REVERSE to switch the roles. Make sure to specify the muse for multimuses! 

[PARTY] - our muses go to a beach/pool party [SUNSCREEN] - sender applies sunscreen to the receiver [HAT] - sender puts a large floppy hat on the receiver’s head [SPLASH]  - sender surprises receiver by splashing them from the pool/ocean [WATER BALLOONS] - our muses get into a water balloon fight [FLOAT] - our muses enjoy just floating around on pool floats (seperate or together) [DUNK] - sender suddenly flips the receiver off of their pool float and into the water [SCARE] - sender disappears underwater to scare the receiver by grabbing their legs [TANNING] - sender purposefully interrupts receiver’s tanning for their attention [SHELLS] - sender shows off all the shells they’ve collected to the receiver [C’MON] - sender drags/talks the receiver into the water with them [NOODLES] - our muses use pool noodles like horses and have a water race [EAT] - our muses have a meal by the ocean / poolside [FRUIT] - sender shoots/flicks watermelon seeds at the receiver  [HYDRATE] - sender gives the receiver water to make sure they stay hydrated [ICE CREAM] - sender surprises receiver with ice cream / popsicles [BURY] - sender starts to bury the receiver in sand [TEACH] - sender teaches the receiver how to swim [GOT YOU] - sender keeps a hold on the receiver while guiding them to deeper water [FRIEND] - sender shows the receiver an animal friend they caught before letting it go [FISHIES!] - sender excitedly points out aquatic life to receiver from their boat [CRASH] - sender laughs at the receiver when a wave knocks receiver over [SURFS UP] - our muses go surfing [OUTFIT] - our muses go swimsuit shopping [BELOW] - our muses go scuba diving [CHALLENGE] - our muses have a sand castle building challenge [WIND] - sender has their towel blown away by the wind while the receiver laughs at them [PLUNGE] - sender scoops up the receiver in their arms and jumps into the water [PICTURE] - sender takes pictures of the receiver, both posed and surprise ones [RESCUE] - sender saves the receiver who was struggling in deep water [UH OH] - our muses realize they’ve wandered away from where their stuff is on the shore [UNWIND] - our muses unwind with a cocktail by the water [PAINTED SKIES] - our muses relax in/by the water and watch the sun set [FLOATING STARS] - our muses relax in the water and stargaze together [WATER KISS] - our muses share an underwater kiss [BENEATH WATER] - our muses get frisky in the water [SCRAMBLE] - our muses scramble for shelter when the weather suddenly turns bad [FLAMES] - our muses relax by a fire after a day at the beach/in the pool [EXHAUTED] - our muses collapse in bed after a day of fun at the beach/pool [OUCH] - sender applies aloe vera to receiver’s sunburns [UGH] - our muses deal with finding sand everywhere even days after the trip

Sparkling Water: Fresh spring water that has been magically carbonated. Served with a squeeze of lime or a dash of one of the many fruit syrups available at the bartender’s disposal.

“lyndis,” a call of her name and some swift foot work to squeeze past the other participants is enough to have her attention. “an odd situation, wouldn’t you say? i suppose we should be thankful that we aren’t in any immediate danger, though…” he took a moment to contemplate his new 12 inch stature before reminding himself of why he’d called to her. “oh, right-  i’m sure it’s probably hard to relax as things are now, so i brought you some refreshments to ease your mind!” eliwood offered her the shining glass filled with a carbonated substance, a smile on his face. “i wasn’t sure what kind of flavor you’d want, but i hope this one is to your liking.”

The appearance of the redheaded lord is enough to ease the tension off Lyn’s face. The crease between her brows is replaced by a smile and she greets her old friend, “Eliwood!”

He picks his way through the crowd with grace and poise she could only dream of matching, all while carrying a drink in hand. Not a single drop spills, even as he sidesteps people. That’s what years of practice navigating banquets will do, she supposes.

“I’ll say! This is the first time I’ve seen people at eye level in weeks. I was beginning to fear that my only friends from now on would be mice.”

She accepts the proffered drink gratefully, drink passing from one hand to another, and takes a sip. It bubbles like champagne, but without the bite of alcohol, and the subtlest taste of fruit without being too sweet.

“Thank you, I hadn’t realized how thirsty I was.” Relief and cool water wetting her parched throat allows a heavy sigh to escape Lyn’s lips. “Ahhh… I just don’t know how you manage these things, Eliwood. I think I may just not be cut out for these kinds of things, after all. I haven’t even been here that long and I’m already ready to leave.”

Not that leaving seems to be possible, at the moment.

“How about you? Are you faring alright?”

eliwood had not been here long, but she gave him the impression she had been shrunk for some time. he certainly hadn't seen her when he'd first arrived, but this was the most odd reason for that. even being the size he is now was nearly enough to break his perfect composure.

he regarded her with a tired smile of his own, glad she had accepted his offering. "it's certainly an adventure here, then... if you had told me one year ago i would be attending a ball with the insects and mice, i might have spit my tea out!" as if on queue, he took a sip of his own sparkling drink. "well, i honestly wanted to the moment i found myself grasping this situation." that wouldn't do, though, eliwood always kept his cool.

it's not as though it was all bad, he enjoyed the catering and the dancing, everyone was has having fun. it seemed to him that the spirit of this place was even stronger than he had anticipated. so many were enjoying themselves, and even those like lyndis were starting to let loose.

"well it's no magic, i can assure you, lyndis. i wasn't always the people person I am today." a small chuckle escaped him as he pondered back to his far and distant childhood. ever the shy boy, it had only been after he'd met hector that he'd started to really shine. "perhaps take it at a slower place... i'd hate for you to turn in early and be the lady that missed her shrunken ball!" eliwood gives her a smile, ribbing her in jest.

"alas, now that you mention it, lady lyndis... i'm feeling rather crowded. perhaps you would accompany me to the flower garden outside? i hear it's quite the sight." she's like to know he's offered her a small reprieve, and so he extends a gloved hand towards her.

Roy wasn’t too keen on the crest stones he’d been told he was part of the guard for, but he never shirked his duties. Sitting on his bedroll, he took a deep breath, calming himself. He had no need for more power. He could do this. He’d be careful and keep whoever his partner was in the present. The stones, and them, would be safe.

He was ready for anything.

So he told himself as he flipped his tent open and stepped outside, immediately face to face with a near clone of himself.

Roy staggered, almost falling over.

No, not a clone, features just so subtly different that-

“Why do you look like that?!” he blurted out. Roy blushed, stammering as he tried to recover, heart pounding in his chest so hard that he wondered if it was audible. There was only one person this could be, and Roy had just gone and insulted him, quelling the rush of joy he should have felt at seeing his father again. He covered his mouth, horrified, eyes wide.

“I- er, yes. Yes it’s quite something.”

Was this a hallucination from being so close to the crest stones? Roy knew Lady Lyn and Lord Hector were younger than he’d remembered, but he hadn’t expected to see his own father. Not now. “Forgive me for my rudeness. May I ask your name?”

   it wasn't really the reaction he'd expected, not even in the worst case scenario that played in the back of his mind. maybe making such a comparison upon first meeting wasn't the proper move. it had only been so odd to see the boy, so alike himself, it was more fascination than confusion... and this boy looked very confused. it takes a few minutes for the boy to recover and form something other than an insult. eliwood was good natured, so he'd let the lad live it down without any pressure from him.

   "i have to say, that wasn't quite the reaction I was expecting, partner! not to worry, though, I have quite the thick skin." a chuckle escapes him as he grows closer to their makeshift guard quarters. he makes note of the tent, the fire, their supplies, and lastly... the objects that required protecting. he felt a great sense of unease peering at even the barrels they were held in... with one final check for security, he turned back to his young partner. "I'm lord eliwood of pherae, my friend. I hope I did not offend you with my comment, simply forget I said that."

   with his introduction out of the way, he kneeled down to their supplies for a mental inventory. some canned goods, rices, and what appeared to be dried meats... it wasn't the healthiest cooking, but he'd made do with much worse. "say, my partner, how about i cook us a meal?" he waved the sealed ingredients in the air for his young friend to see. "a friend of mine always said food was the way to a fast friendship. perhaps we can exchange names, and stories too, if you'd like." he looked on hopefully, a grin tugging at the edges of his lips. it wasn't a lie that he was interested in someone who could pass as his brother, but it would also keep their minds off the lingering evil they had to protect.

"Lord Eliwood," she greets with a certain and familiar tone, as if she knows him. Maybe not this version. Still, she finds it so wonderful that her father is alongside his closest friends once more that she cannot help the smile it brings to her face.

Oh, but she does need some excuse for addressing him so suddenly. "... A-Ah, I... heard someone mention a new student and... thought I should welcome you." She curtsies then. "The name is Lilina, it's a pleasure."

   eliwood had always been the kind of man to fit into the crowd, never the one to stand out. he preferred it this way, it allowed him to take in information and social queues at his own pace. when he was certain of his place, he would make himself known with a smile and sweet words. besides, he couldn't hardly picture himself being the kind of presence that hector has always been.

   it's why he is surprised when he sees a girl creating a path straight to him, a beaming smile on her face. as she approaches, the girl greets him with his own name. it feels strange, like perhaps he should know her, but he is sure he has never met her before now.

   "I see! That was such a warm welcome, I doubted for a moment that we had yet to meet." with a smile of his own, eliwood reciprocated the welcome, "it's a pleasure to have you receive me, lilina." now that they were acquainted with each other, he thought to seek her help. he'd been trying to find hector for quite some time, but he was nowhere to be found. it was a shot in the dark, but perhaps she could point him in the right direction... "actually, i'm glad you're here. i'm looking for my friend, but he's proven to be rather elusive! would you happen to be familiar with a student here named hector?"

[ Cue the Music ] " Lord Eliwood!! " The young boy ran up to him, seemingly excited he reconized someone in this crowd. "Havent you seen those insects playing over there?! Its rather strange but-" He tries to calm himself down, he cant forget the real task at hand. "-I want to show them what a real musician is like!!! Please come with me!"

this situation he found himself in, something like a fairy tale, left the lord in utter confusion. it left eliwood on edge truthfully, but the best he could do was smile and show his support to his friends. they were not under threat, after all, so he allowed himself these frivolous moments. if things did go awry, at least there would be plenty of capable warriors to fight, despite their size. for now he would have to confront his new reality of mice waiters, and... even insect musicians.

speaking of, a familiar face entered from his periphery, clearly excited about something. the boy's words spew out of him a mile a minute, a speed eliwood can hardly keep up with. he cannot recall seeing nils so alight with joy before, it is a most welcome change indeed. he cannot help but smile, knowing that his hardships seem to far from his mind. "calm yourself, nils, lest you forget to breathe!" a hearty laugh escapes the lord, giving the lad a pat on the shoulder.

"i've seen them, but i have yet to hear them play myself. i'd be delighted to join you, though. lead the way, nils."

it hadn't been his intention to joy this ' ethereal ball ', as it was put to him, and yet he couldn't help himself from taking a peek inside. inside was much like he expected it to be, full of people admiring their partners and so on. what he hadn't expected however, was being shrunk down to the size of a small animal the second he tried to leave! in a fervent attempt to understand what was happening, his eyes darted about to the people he had turned his back to. just like him, they were all pint sized.

he would have panicked if not for the realization that they had been brought to a place even more magnificent than the monastery. there was catering and flowing decoration... just what was happening. perhaps he'd find out more by talking to the other students and staff here?

"i have to say, I'm relieved that you agreed to join me today," being so new to this monastery left him rather anxious to exploring it's halls alone. surely he could ask hector, or even lyndis to join him, but they both seemed to have found a comfortable clique here. he was no stranger to playing catch up, though, and it only gave him a chance to meet new friends as well. it was not lost on him the rarity of being able to meet someone such as lilina, the future daughter of his most dear friend. perhaps these things were commonplace here, but he could scarcely imagine something like this before arriving at fodlan. if he hadn't met his own son mere days ago, eliwood might have been ever more skeptical of her claims.

he turned to his company for the day and continued, "i'll be relying on you to help me make a fine gift for roy today." this was something of an agreement between the two, that today they would assist each other in making the perfect gift. alone he could never make something that his son would enjoy, why, he hardly knew anything about him. in exchange, however, he offered to give his expert opinion on what exactly hector would like to see. a grin found itself on his features... much like himself, eliwood imagined hector would melt at anything lilina thought to gift him. it was incredibly endearing, however, to see just how much she wanted her father to be happy. Hector must be an amazing father in this future of theirs... "I haven't forgotten my promise, either," the lord let out a chuckle as he motioned her forward, "i'll help you make the perfect arrangement, lilina!"

what little research he was able to accomplish before adjourning to his post had left him late, not by more than ten minutes, but enough to have him rushing. he couldn't help but to be weary of the request, though, and the sinister warnings that the staff had given him about this particular cargo did nothing to ease his mind. their powers were widely up to debate, but one thing was echoed by each person he asked... those stones were pure evil. for the first time in many years, eliwood was happy to be so experienced when it came to pure evil. his mind would be steel, he could only pray that his partner would be equally unmalleable. 

upon arriving to his destination, the lord was swift in his observation of the camp he would be stationed at for the next several days. a fire had already been started, and he picked up the faint scent of some kind of stewing meat coming from the dingy pot hanging above it. it was clear that his partner for this mission had already arrived, and had been here for some time now. he could only feel badly, leaving whoever it was to do all the chores while he was running about the monastery. an apology was certainly in order for his tardiness, but despite a careful look over, eliwood could not seem to find the other. well- that was until he noticed some rustling coming from a tent a tad farther down the path from their fire, he paused until finally a young man sprung out from it.

"greetings, stranger-" eliwood is inclined to begin his introductions, but is halted when the boy looks up in response to his voice, leaving him shocked. if he could describe it, it would be like looking in some kind of magical mirror that took years off your face. the boy before him seemed as shocked, perhaps they were both able to see this uncanny likeness between them. eliwood began to chuckle, "my apologies, lad, i couldn't help but be surprised by your features! it's not every day you meet someone who looks so similar to yourself, but then, i'm sure you understand the feeling."

REQUIRES GOLDEN DEER STUDENTS ! [Grants Riding/Flying +1] - With your newfound size come newfound troubles with logistics, in particular: how does one get around when you’re as tall as a thumb? The world itself is as grand as it’s ever been. There are, however, those among you who will no doubt see your fresh perspective as an opportunity. After all, how often is it you get a chance to ride a bird, a rabbit, or a squirrel? [Grants Lance +1] - Without warning, the earth begins to violently shake and a fissure cracks open wide beneath your feet, swallowing you up before you have the chance to even think about running. When you awaken, you find yourself behind a wall of glass, alongside a dozen statues, rings, miniature objects, and other oddities. The ground before you ripples as if alive, but when a dark cloud full of thunder and lightning rushes toward you, the earth rises up to meet it.
