the only reason ivy hasn’t killed the joker is because of her love for harley. she knows that if she dared, she’d never see her again. besides, it’s not ivy’s place to... she’ll leave that up to his many other victims.

Okay so let’s talk about how Ivy really doesn’t care about humanity unless it’s Harley, her achilles heel. She’s the sole reason Pamela hasn’t left Gotham to live in a secluded rain forest far away from any semblance of humankind. Don’t think for a second she enjoys being anchored in a polluted city that’s slowly killing all that’s green around her. The smog only covers the sun more which makes for a very GRUMPY plant hybrid. One that cannot survive without light, but that doesn’t matter, so long as she’s close to the one person she promised herself she’d never … fall for. Try not to think about how she found Harley broken up like some sort of doll in Robinson park. She could’ve killed her. It crossed her mind a few times for crashing into an oak tree, but she knew that wasn’t Harley’s fault. So, she carried her back home, fixed the lacerations, cuts, bruises, and administered a shot to ensure she’d wake up ready to fight. ready to give that bastard what he earned for doing what he did to her. what did Harley do instead?? She runs back into those arms that strangled her, kissed the lips that cursed her, and left Pamela in the dust. left her looking like a fool.

It’s not all pining and one sided either. For a while Harley didn’t want to admit she had feelings for Pam, because maybe in her mind that’d negate all feelings she had for joker. So, fast forward to ‘you think i’m just a doll’ monologue. She’s been watching Ivy for a while now. She knows there’s another reason she’s always there, ready to answer the phone at all hours of the night. there’s a reason Pamela’s hugs linger and so do shared gazes. Harley knows exactly where to strike so that Ivy will leave her alone. ‘Is it because you love me??’ is a purposeful jab because she doesn’t want to completely kill Pamela from the inside out. It’s a warning. A plea to go away while she still can, but it’s too late…by that point Ivy is head over heels, even though she says “ I’m your FRIEND, Harley “, it’s said in such a way that there’s pain. There’s nothing but anguish in her eyes when she comes to the conclusion that Harley is too weak. Harley showed up to kill joker and ultimately fell for his tricks again. Harley even knows she’s too weak to have a stable relationship with Pamela.So, ultimately during that train of thought… Harley is looking out for Pamela’s feelings too.
