Energy || Jacey & Ember
Shyly replying āThanks,ā perking back up āI prefer it this way too but it kept going in my mouth earlier, so I tied it but since weāre chillinā..ā Her head swooshing her hair from one side to the other, letting it fall, covering her laughter filled face. Calming down,Ā Jacey watched as she delicately rolled a joint and so she sat up and crossed her legs and stared at the side of Emberās face, examining it as she spoke. She grabbed the smoke from her, between her middle finger and thumb, and kindly replied āThank you, again.ā She then set her hand on her knee, and laid back down from no lighter and continued āThatās right though.. I completely agree..ā
As they laid there, Jacey gazed at the last view of the stars and turned her head towards the redhead with a huge smile on her face as she listened. āThis place is great, very open and yet secluded- I hope you wonāt mind me visiting in the future.ā She sat up on her arm, resting the side of her head in her hand, āI guess weāre one in the same being the attractive ones in the chosen pub during this fine autumn night.ā Her smile glistening in her eyes, āIām glad the company is mutually enjoyed. Mind if I ask for your light again, please? And just to be clear, Iāll totally repay this favor to you, I donāt mooch off of people.ā
"I recently moved into a private school, not too far from the pub. What about you?"
The redhead was still contemplating the top of the trees when she grinned to herself before turning her head back to Jacey. "It's a marvelous spot but it isn't mine..." She said shaking her head slowly, looking back at the trees. "It's Nature's. The Goddess who rules the world but was forsaken and disrespected by most of our specie. Who welcomes the good ones." Her face turned back at Jacey's with Ā a self-effacing smile andĀ she blinked once. "You're welcome here as long as you acknowledge the fact that the industry is also murder." Spoke the witch who loved the nature itself more than anything else in the world. "It's so fucking simple. You take care of it and it will take care of you back." She grinned about them being the only attractive people on that pub. "I'm glad... and there's no need to repay me at all, I like it better when I have some decent company to talk to and laugh with." Her words were clearly true. She liked to share with no need of repayment.
Her green eyes moved to the tip of the special cigarette between Jacey's fingers right after her confession about where she lived. She licked her bottom lip before her eyes changed its colour to a powerful red, resembling flames. That's when the joint lit on without explanation; Ember giving her a wicked smile. "Smoke it up, roomie. It's a rare-kind ofĀ Maui-wowie. It will blow your mind, trust me. I've been saving it for a special occasion."
She propped her elbows on the grass to look closer at her, that smile never leaving her face. "A witch... I can't believe I've never seen you at the Academy before... So what do you do?" She asked curiously about her powers, after showing off her own.
A quiet afternoon in the house || Queenie + Ember
"Hey, Iām Queenie. Iām just reading Archimedes and the Door of Science for like the 5th time. Iām kind of a math junkie and this kind of shit just speaks to me. No one else seems to care much about education here, but I didnāt come all this way to let my brain stagnate.ā
Queenie is a bit hesitant to get too chummy with this girl. She grew up in the school of hard knocks and most people sheās known have let her down throughout her life. She thinks,Ā I donāt mind making a new friend though, she could be cool. Gets kinda lonely here, even though we got some pretty big shit in common. Maybe this girl has been through some bullshit from other people too. Ā
She offers her to sample from the plate of cheeses.Ā
"Nice to meet you, Queenie." Ember gave her a little smile. "Wow, someone else who actually enjoys a good reading in this house." Ember said with enthusiasm but not to the point of an effusive individual. "Unfortunately, I haven't read this one before but I sure like Archimedes' story and discovery." She giggled. "I can't help but laugh each time I picture him running like hell, completely naked and wet after his conclusion on how much weight of gold the king's crown had. Math and Calculus are pretty neat but I'm more of a Chemistry and Physics lover." Ember nodded seriously after Queenie's opinion about the education of the coven. "I agree. I've never seen anyone reading or trying to learn something new and useful in this place." Ember spoke quietly, too many thoughts running through her mind. "Sometimes I believe they are just keeping us safe from someone or something else given the fact that a so-called Academy doesn't teach us very much... If any, at all." Her slim fingers covered her lips, swallowing a giggle. "Which is a shame. I thought I had come to acquire more knowledge about our kind, which I've been doing since I was a child and... maybe take absolute control of my powers. Luckily, I brought as many books as I could so I wouldn't feel like that either."
Ember politely raised her hand and shook it a little when Queenie offered her some cheese. "Thanks but I'm not hungry... You're very polite, though. So, what kind of books do you like the most?" Ember looked closer to the other student, intrigued about her features as she stood quiet. "May I ask what are you thinking about?" Her voice was full of curiosity until she shook her head and smiled a little. "Sorry, I shouldn't have asked that. Nevermind." She chuckled a little nervous and ducked her head to the side as she asked in a low tone one more question after a deep thinking. "Do you have many friends around here?"
Of Time and Flame | Misty & Ember
The blonde smiled gently, looking back into Emberās eyes, feeling the genuine truth in what the redhead spoke. She was unlike any other person sheād met before, aside from Zoe, Misty had never met another so bold and straight talking as Ember. It was divine. She swallowed a little as she watched Ember closing her eyes, the weight from her shoulders seemingly lifting and Misty smiled, just looking over her new friend, a fellow witch. When Ember spoke up again, the blonde turned her focus and smiled, āItās no troubleā¦no trouble at allā¦ā she announced, glancing briefly back to Ember before looking to her cassette player. The blonde raised her brows at the redheadās revelation, āNot missing much?ā she questioned, looking back to Ember, āIāve missed a whole lot. Thereās a school out there, just across town with people like me, like us!ā she heaved a sigh, āYes, I know there are mean people, but I also know that people are lovinā, and kind. Underneath all thoseā¦hard shells.ā she thought for a moment, āTake Kyle for exampleā¦ā she began than trailed off.
"A witchcraft councilā¦!" Misty raised both brows again before she nodded, remembering back to when sheād found the charred witch, after having being burned just like her at the stake. She nodded more, "I know, I know!" she added. Swallowing, Misty spoke up, "I found one of āemā¦sheād been burned, like me." Sighing heavily, the blonde sat silent while she watched the redhead stand and take one of her shawls, wrapping it around herself before she even cracked a smile. She was busy thinking about how her end had come and gone, and how this witchās end had come and sheād been there to salvage what had been left. She was broken from her thoughts however, when Ember neared her and spoke up; 'Iād stick around for you.' she had said. Misty gently turned her eyes up to meet green, she gave the faintest of smiles before she nodded slowly. Misty allowed Ember to take her hand, and she went with it, standing and meeting the redhead, just watching her. She nodded and blinked slowly.
"You know what, Misty?" Ember spoke quietly, trying to choose the right words. "This might have been the first time that could feel how cool and pleasant it is to be treated like a real person instead of... some kind of monster... I really like this feeling!" Ember was so thankful! Obviously stamped on her features. "It's different..." She looked up for a moment of realization. "It's interesting."Ā
She kept silent as Misty spoke. Ember couldn't blame her to react like that. She have missed a lot. The news about her on the television, the witch hunters, ghosts, voodoo zombies... Things that Ember wouldn't miss that much. Just like when she first arrived New Orleans and Misty was completely paranoid. Ember understood the situation now. "It's not because they are witches like we are that they will be like you are..." Ember shook her head a little, looking away for a moment. "There's something very wrong about that coven, Misty, I'm not even sure if I am safe there anymore. That place seems like... a cage... a trap. It's like they are confining us witches, protecting... preserving our genes... If you put down the numbers on the table you will see how drastically the scale of witches descendants from Salem had dropped. There are..." She stopped for a moment before continuing. "There are just a few of us living inside that mansion..." She shook her head slowly. "There's something going on over there." Her voice was short and precise. "However, I presume Cordelia would be delightful to know that you're alive. Probably the other girls too... Give it a shot, why not? Maybe you will find what you've been seeking in there." She paused, looking down at the blanket, trying to hide a little smile. "Yeah... there are loving, caring and kind people... just a little hard to find but," Her eyes looked back to Misty's, nodding her head, eyes shining a little, that sweet smile she could never hide showing off again. "it sure happens to find one or other sometimes."Ā
"Kyle..." Ember thought about that name for a moment. "I just realized I have absolutely no idea who is he..." Her cheeks turned red from embarrassment. "You talk about him all the time. You must really care about him, am I right?" She asked carefully, wondering if that was a forbidden-kind of topic, maybe. Besides, there wasn't any other way she could - knew how to - ask such thing. Yes, she recognized she was straight forward and most people didn't like it or wasn't used to but, eh, well. Something that constantly sent people away. Most of them never knew she never meant to be rude, preposterous; out of line. In the end, she could only hope that Misty would and could understand. Her mind started to rush too hard for herself to understand her thoughts so, she decided to start talking again. "So to sum up, if I didn't miss a thing, I shall take Kyle for example, who must be love and kind but has a hard shell... Then Zoe took him away... how... why... i mean, where to? There are no boys in our Academy." Ember stated a little suspicious. "Was he the one you told me about before?" Oh, have she gone too far? 1)Ā Run. 2) Keep talking. 3) Dance. Ember chosen the last one.
As she moved slowly with Stevie and Misty's shawl, her breathing getting faster as she heard those words about the recent burned witch. That's when she turned around to face her with a gloomy countenance,Ā twirling the tips of the shawl on her slim, pale fingers. "I know who did it. They interviewed me once, she was sitting in the middle. Seemed quite wise but there was something clearly disturbing, torturing herĀ on the inside." She looked down with watered eyes,Ā wiping a single tear that have dropped. "Myrtle Snow was the one you found..." Ember gave one step closer. "Did you... bring her back?" The student was afraid of her answer. Not that she was close withĀ Myrtle nor either got fascinated by her but she wasn't okay when FionaĀ announcedĀ her deathĀ penalty. It was wrong. Witches kept dying, burning, being missing. Ember didn't come that day, but she was warned about her last words. There was too much death. They should stick together, not help those damn witch hunters to do their jobs. Suddenly, Ember felt this huge wave ofĀ lonelinessĀ attacking her hard, which made her move closer and holdĀ Misty'sĀ hand just to be sure that she wasn't. For the blonde to feel it too, she wished.
Ember calmed herself down before looking back at her, smiling kindly as they got up.Ā Misty surprised her all the time. Not that Ember's self-steam was low or that she didn't have any confidence on her words or actions. She was used to be thrown away far too quickly, to have mean eyes upon her constantly, like she was a freak, a disease. It was just like Misty could see Ember's true nature; not just the scary, dark side she had. Maybe she had accept Ember just like she was and for whom she was. Why wasn't the blonde repulsed by Ember's powers? That's whenĀ Go Your Own Way started to play, banishing those odd, struggling thoughts away. Misty was there, right on front of her, watching her because she wanted to. Otherwise she could have simply denied it. Ember was glad that she didn't. She closed her eyes when Stevie started to sing that beautiful, beautiful song. Some could say it was sad, but not Ember. Her body moved naturally, graciously and slowly; losing herself completely into the song as she kept using the white shawl, wishing she had wings as she danced to the music. "That's my favourite song of them..." She opened her eyes, searching for Misty's ones. "It's so... Deeply intense." She said almost in a whisper, trying not to interrupt Stevie.
I donāt know.Ā Th-This place?Ā Iām not really sure itās for me.
