One of the best sunrises i've ever seen. It was a beautiful frosty morning, with a great climb to the top of the hill. Worth every moment watching the low lying mist roll in through the valley with wisps floating away. Beautiful.

Inspiration...
I normally struggle to find inspiration, but when it comes, ideas begin to flow. It is from that moment that I truly believe more in my ability than ever, and that my inspiration not only pushes me, but pushes my images to not only be better, but also provoke feelings and trigger memories for others.
Behind the Scenes images taken by eddfury at one of my recent shoot's. The idea behind the following shoot's is to question the ethics on how far image retouching has gone, aiming more at the fashion industry for the time being. Thanks to eddfury for his help and patience throughout the day. Was a good day of shooting.
This is an ongoing project so keep your eyes peeled here for further development.
Like me this, follow me that...too much?

Don't get me wrong, social networking is great. It's free, it's easy to use, but isn't it getting to a point where enough is enough?
Granted I'm new to marketing myself as a photographer, but why is there such an influx of these self marketing websites? Take Facebook for example, I was extremely hesitant in creating a Facebook page and making a Facebook presence for myself. Facebook was my place, my own little world where I could almost relax, now I just feel like it's another burden. How about this new one, pinterest? What do we think of that? Does anyone genuinely feel it's the same old: beautiful, interesting, inspiring, thought provoking, pieces of work being recycled, coupled with new releases of media bound to be found on every other site anyway?
To me, social media marketing is starting to cross the line between quality over quantity; we are focusing on increasing the quantity of our work and of our recipients and not the quality of our work.
To those photographers, designers, even writers out there, hands up if you can safely say that you now find yourself spending more time 'marketing' online than what you do in person; or even actually creating the work to be marketed?
As a photographer I believe I can no longer allow my images to express their meaning and for them to have the impact I originally intended them to give and the way our predecessor's used to. Gallery owners, magazine editors, potentials buyers, every client out there would be the first port of call for making your images public and all they would see is a portfolio, or a selection of final prints. Not only did this small quantity of work result in a higher quality of work, but it also stopped your work from devaluing. Less is more right?
I guess we all work differently.
Yes yes, the cynics among us will tell me that we have to market more than we create, but do we? Yes it's a modern world, but surely creating spectacular images that speak for themselves is more resourceful than marketing work pushed out once a day for some of us?
How do you work and why?
Ps. Please note the aim of this is to provoke discussion and not preach my beliefs.
Pss. My views constantly change but I guess most of this stands...
Psss. your thoughts are more than appreciated.
So, sitting in a lecture the other day and finally something interesting pops up. We get shown this beautiful video by Nick Knight. I'm beginning to become more and more tempted to try shooting video shorts...Have a feeling it would coincide nicely with my images.
What a great image. Love the leadings lines into something unknown. The black and white really captures an atmosphere.
It's been a while.
Brushing off the cobwebs. Back for good this time? Let's hope so.
I've started taking an interest in design as well as photography, so hopefully i'll post up various things and not keep this blog specifically to just my images, but also my thoughts, my designs and also other pieces of inspiration I come across and want to share.
Interesting Blog, want to see more of you & your camera . . .nice selfshoots :D i guess we all have done that before
Hey thanks for following, loving the look of some of your posts. More images shall be posted up soon so keep your eye out for updates. Thanks again.
Here's a nifty little site I came across a while a go. I'm yet to have to use it (thank god) so I cant provide anyone with feedback, but for any one at there who has lost or had their camera stolen, it's worth a try right? - http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/ -
So...1 week
In 1 week (well...just under) I've got my A2 photography exam. Got plenty of images for building up my coursework, but inspiration is truly failing me for the exam criteria...Exploration and Discovery - Could it get any more vague? Sadly I'm no 'artist' of photography, I envy those who possess the skills to create beautiful or daunting fine art images. This course really wasn't ever suited to me... You may find yourself now questioning why I even do photography? Well, I'm a documentary and commercial photographer in all honesty - Not exclusively one, but that's the way my images tend to be influenced by. I put it down to this as my reasoning for lack of creativity in coming up with ideas for such vague topics. Perhaps I'm like a horse with blinkers? Only got my eyes on what's in front of me, not looking outside the box as it were...Which I suppose is fairly ironic, why? Throughout every day of my life I look at the big picture, I question things, I 'look outside the box', yet photography, my hobby, my passion, my life...I wouldn't know what inspiration was if it hit me in the face.
Stumbled across this and thought i'd share - Link - http://www.picturecorrect.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/exposure-bracketing.jpg.
End of the world anyone?
Strobism Anyone? I'm a big fan of using studio kit's however; being a student (yes play the violins) I have no money for buying such luxuries. Not being one to give up, I looked into strobism. It's great being able to take almost a 'portable studio' with you, with no hassle.
To cut a long story short, if you're ever trying out on-site fashion photography, or aiming to get nice back-dropped portraits using a speedlight is a sure fire way to add a little 'punch' to your image and really make the subject 'pop' from the background... From my experience as a student with little money, you don't need to spend the cash on Canon's or Nikon's (etc) £££ speedlights. As pictured above, yongnuo are a company that basically clone/tweak canon's flashes (all perfectly legal). This new flash - http://www.hkyongnuo.com/e-detail.php?ID=288 Yongnuo 565ex - soon to be coming out certainly looks appealing - Or perhaps I just have a fettish for 'flashy' equipment? Worth a look for anyone interested in trying strobism.
fromme-toyou:
Meet me at the bar…
Words cannot describe how much I love this.
WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?
Cutting my 'places to visit' list down to one place, it'd have to be...New Zealand!
I want to be known for the images I take rather then the words I write, otherwise I'd be a writer not a photographer.
A few self portraits. If you know me then you'll know I'm not a keen fan of having my picture taken...Unfortunately push came to shove and I needed a model.
