“Pecking Order”
I think this photograph really captures most what I like about the photographs I think are special. When you see this image, and read the name I’ve given it, do you stop there and enjoy the obvious? Does a simple gag prevent you from looking at the entire image to appreciate the subtleties that aren’t on the nose?
I see the birds fighting with each other, pecking order.
I see the humans segregated from the birds, pecking order.
I see two racial groups separated, pecking order.
I see youth on a bench, and elderly on the ground, pecking order.
I see the darks being separated from the lights, pecking order.
I see the humans all dressed in white, and the birds all dressed in black, a nod to color theory where white associates with good and black associates to bad...

This image has contrasts that aren’t on the nose, that I love it for so much more than what is obvious. This picture to me has some thought provoking imagery if you can see it.
