Thoughts distort reality. That’s a fact, but it still is very hard for us to let go of them.
Thoughts can feel like a security blanket without which we feel in danger, but we have to realize that they do not reflect reality if we want to live a peaceful life.
When a negative thought arises in our minds, it brings with it a negative emotion if we choose to treat it as reality. We then associate with this emotion and identify with it, thus losing contact with reality and who we really are, because we are afraid of what could happen in result of this emotion - we are deathly afraid of our own experience.
