Spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta) at an elephant carcass in Laikipia, Kenya.
Our guides believed the elephant might have died in childbirth, a very tragic ending but, as nature never lets anything go to waste, they'll feed many other animals for days to come. The african savanna version of a whale fall.
Juvenile male lion we spotted in Kenya. Such a cutie with his baby spots and whispy mane growing in!
Saw the most beautiful cheetah family during my stay at Mpala in Kenya! This hardworking mum had not just a couple but 4 healthy looking juveniles which is very impressive in an area with lots of lions, leopards, and hyena, all of which would kill cheetah cubs. Felt very special to see them all together 🐆

Eurasian Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus)
Family: Paridae
Another instantly recognisable and colourful garden visitor in the UK. These birds aren't easily sexually dimorphic to the human eye, but if we were to look at them under UV light the males would have a much brighter blue crown. As they can see in ultraviolet light this is how they tell each sex apart.
They are well known little acrobats who like to hang upside down when foraging. Whilst many are monogamous, in a good quality territory a male might have multiple females nesting that he'll switch between feeding. Blue tits also have unusually large clutch sizes. Whilst many birds aim to have multiple broods within a breeding season, blue tits will instead focus their efforts onto a single large brood with the record being 16 eggs in a single nest!

Breeding males are easily distinguishable by their grey crowns, dark chestnut markings, and their black bibs. The size of their bib is considered an 'honest' signal of a males fitness to both females looking for a partner and in territorial disputes with other males. It's size is determined by many factors such as health, genes, and testosterone levels, and females prefer a larger, darker bib.

I was sitting on the ground filming a pair of doves when I noted this gorgeous raccoon ambling down the trail about 50 yards away. I assumed he would notice me and startle into the brush but instead he made deliberate eye contact and walked directly towards me until I had to stand up and scoot to the side of the trail. Who else but a raccoon would be so bold!
*Please note I do have a massive telephoto lens on my camera so this dude is nowhere near as close to me physically as he appears in this video.
