Pet Peeve #Always
Humans have very poor statistical intuition and are prone to overvalue data they experience personally.
Confirmation bias
Prone to accepting without verification statements from people they like
Prone to reject without verification statements from people they dislike
Unlikely to consider new data when an opinion has already been formed
Being right is more about articulating your point in a clever way than actually having useful information.
Journey to Find the Best French Fries in LA
If you know me, you know I love fries.
I fell on this article a couple months ago, and wanted to see if the top 10 restaurants listed here would meet my standards.
Listing from Top 10, #1 being best, I will start my journey with the worst of the best.

Formula for Entrepreneurial Success
1. Work with Amazing People
Don’t compromise on who you choose to found your company with and hire. Do not put up with ego-centric personalities or downer attitudes.
2. Take on Big Challenges
It’s pretty simple: Hard things are valuable; easy things are not so valuable. Reaching the mountaintop is rewarding because it is hard. If it was easy, everybody would do it.
3. Focus
Say no to most things: Features. People. Partnerships. “Coffees.” Projects. Only a few of them really matter. (Yes, it’s hard to know which.) Don’t get distracted.
4. Take Care of Yourself
When you don’t sleep, eat crap, don’t exercise, and are living off adrenaline for too long, your performance suffers. Your decisions suffer. Your company suffers.
5. Love those Close to You
Failure of your company is not failure in life. Failure in your relationships is.

Jack of All Trades, Master of None?
The central counter-argument here is that any learning comes with opportunity cost. Learning Python might very well take up time that you would otherwise use for studying, say, product management. This is true, in theory. But in practice, most designers I know, including myself prior to joining Quora, are not learning at their maximum rate. I have spent much of my career solving the same design problems over and over again with no substantive personal growth to show for it. I don't think my situation is unique. But even if you were learning at your maximum rate, the opportunity cost argument actually works in favor of the multi-disciplinary approach. Design and its component practices are like any other craft: you can always develop a deeper familiarity with the minutiae, asymptotically approaching mastery. But this is a process with diminishing returns. Would you rather carve a door 1% better than you did last year, or learn how to build the rest of the house in the same amount of time? As I argue below, the connective tissue between these skills may actually be more valuable than incremental gains in a single practice.
No Car, no keys, no phone. I feel stranded.
What are your goals and interests?
Here is some generic advice around getting to the mindset that lets you freely grow your intellect and personality:
One area I would start in is removing the link between your self worth and whether you are considered "smart" or "stupid". You must realize how unreasonable it is to presume that you are incapable of something (though it may take some effort). People of fairly average intelligence have achieved far more than many "geniuses" throughout history.
Labels, even positive ones, are inherently limiting. I have seen some of the smartest and most talented people I know be completely crippled by their fear of being seen as "stupid" or "untalented" because they place so much value and self worth in being viewed as smart and talented. Once you start labeling yourself as atheist, smart, Christian, lazy, stupid, disorganized, unkempt, useless, handsome, ugly, etc. then your natural tendency is to both do things and believe things that validate those labels. They become a crutch, a shelter, and they let you stagnate.
Don't compare yourself to other people. It is of little value, even as a benchmark of where you stand in the general population (because it is both extremely difficult to get a representative distribution and because biases in how the brain processes information will tend to confirm whatever your current beliefs are, among other things). You are where you are, and having a good understanding of that lets you plan and grow accordingly.
Cultivate your interests and curiosity. Being genuinely curious about things will take you further than you think is possible. Don't ever let yourself be bored. Try not to have self limiting thoughts. Always look for ways to improve. Limit how much time you spend consuming non-technical/simple things (television, reddit, Facebook, video games) Take care of your health. Focus on making important things lifestyle changes (that is, create lasting support structures for what you should be doing, and things that make it difficult to do the things you shouldn't do).

The Perfect Martini
College. Busby's. AMF.
Had a dream I borrowed my dads R8 and drove it around town. Only, the brakes were shotty and I was in Thailand at a Korean Club. The worst part of it was trying to drive down a spiral parking garage with no brakes. That was seriously stressful. Only until I wanted full control did the car finally work properly and handle like a dream.
Oven Roasted Potatoes
Tried out oven roasted potatoes using this recipe.
Was supposed to come out like this:
http://foodraf.com/oven-roasted-potatoes/#.URvRTL_C2Sp
Came out like this:
Judging from the pictures, it seems all my ingredients were much larger. Plus I didn't really mince anything.... Nonetheless they still came out delicious. Melted cheese over a bed of hickory smoked bacon...
