Ah yes. Gary in Kalos. What a journey it would be.

Gary would still basically be on his own journey doing his own research thing probably with Professor Sycamore but occasionally run into Ash and the others and also because he was tasked by Delia to keep an eye on her stupid son who jumped off a tower on live television (yes Gary also saw that broadcast).

Sure, Gary has matured a lot after becoming a researcher but he's still the same smug ass kid that can and will piss off people for fun. Especially Ash.

Gary would also be the type to call out Ash on his bullshit point blank. Without shame. In front of trainers that admire Ash. Because Gary too was a trainer and wants the best for Ash. And he wants to ruin Ash's reputation a bit too.

Thus:

Gary upon seeing Greninja not forget Cut: Satoshi, for the love of Arceus, give your ninja frog Night Slash.

Gary: Why is your ace out here trimming out bushes mid-battle. Make him learn a fucking Dark Type move.

Shigeru and Satoshi are Gary and Ash's Kantonese names while the Gary and Ash being public names with Gary and Ash derived from their given name like Gary from ShiGERU and Satoshi from SAtosHi. And yes they named each other that when they were kids and they always joke that they named each other.

i’ve been watching this first episodes of different series recently and it’s really interesting to see how different picking a starter is in kanto vs sinnoh or hoenn.

oak is operating on a first come, first serve basis where as you can hear in the episodes elm and rowan’s assistants referring to the starters they have as specifically for may/dawn to pick from. both may and dawn need their postcards but ash doesn’t (tho we can blame that on him knowing oak personally). like???? what is oak on???

this could be blamed on there being more trainers in kanto vs elsewhere so maybe there’s just not enough supply for the demand but like. hoenn and sinnoh both have big contest scenes which oughta increase the amount of people interested if you ask me. plus pokemon breeders have been a thing so i don’t really understand why oak wouldn’t have enough.

I really do like a lot in the anime how useful the Pokémon center is outside of just healing Pokemon/hospital

Like it’s a stop for people to rest for a few days if they want and get offered food. Also works as a place for people to take calls,messages,mail things and charge stuff. TV,sitting areas,reading material-some have battle grounds too + they've all got their own designs to them

Like the charmander episode one is like if they turned a lodge into a Pokemon center

I just think it's neat
