The one thing I don't think I can forgive the anime for is what they did to contests.

They used to be so multi faceted. They weren't just for girls. They required a level of strategy and creativity different from Kalos' showcases

Especially in sinnoh with Dawn the special strategies and techniques required so much hard work and resourcefulness and I miss it so much

Do some pokemon get like body dysmorphia when they evolve. Waking up one day as yourself you've known your whole life then suddenly being completely different often in a way outside of your control sounds horrifying

There was actually an episode in Johto in which trace amounts of leaf and sun stones were causing a bunch of Gloom to evolve into Vileplume and Bellosum depending on the direction of the wind. And there were some that weren't happy with the evolution they got! Unfortunately it ended with a "well everything happens for a reason! love urselves! :D" type of message. I like to imagine an AU where Ash + friends find the source of where the fragments were coming from and stop them from just being loose in the air (but also tell the pokemon where the stones are, if they want to evolve).
