Driven by grief, James Flint leaves the city behind to become the caretaker of a lighthouse in a small coastal town. But despite his desire for solitude, he finds himself drawn to a local bookshop owner, and haunted by man who seems to have strolled right out of the sea. But Flint may be less willing prey than this mysterious stranger expects.

this old man is coming along nicely. another piece I’ve been working on lately. I don’t usually like to post entire WIP faces but... what the hell. :p the complete thing is a half body portrait, not sure how long until all of it will be finished... depends a lot on how realistic I’m going to make it. (I do intend to keep it quite painting-like and simpler than usual because it’s way too much work already as it is...lol).

It's been too long since I posted anything new, but I just wanted to say hello and thank you to all the new followers. ❤ And really, I’m sorry that this blog is dead most of the time, but I've been back in that mental place where 99 % of the stuff I try to make just doesn't seem to work or feel good. So I can't say when or how often I'll be posting in the future – I've been thinking of posting more WIPs again to have more stuff to put here, but since I don't know when any of them will be finished, it'd most likely just end up making me feel bad. :o

I've enabled asks on this blog as well now in case anyone has any messages or questions for me. I'm really really bad at replying to things though, but I promise to try harder. ❤

Another year over. I painted a lot less than I intended, but that’s how it goes sometimes. So here are all the “finished” pieces I made this year. There’s variety in style so I’m happy about that. I don’t see myself stopping painting portraits so this is probably more or less what my summaries are going to look like. (But who knows, though?) My work is always self-indulgent because that’s just how I roll, this is a hobby after all, but here’s hoping that I’ll try more new things next year.

My favorites are the first two and the last one. The first one was posted after quite a long break and it took a long time to finish, and I really like the soft colors and the slightly “dreamy” look. The second one was a lot of fun to paint and especially getting the skin look like how it turned out was incredibly satisfying. :o

Using lots of colors in a way that looks nice in my eyes is a continuous struggle so to take it “easy” towards the end of the year I went for a muted look. I still have several pieces in the works, some of which I have posted, but I’m really happy with the one I did finish so far. Although muted the last one is still one of my more detailed pieces and I just adore that anguished expression so obviously I wanted to try and capture it. :p

Even though there wasn’t a lot of completed work done I learned a bunch, realized new things to improve on and how and there are still of course the weaker points I haven’t quite cracked but all in good time, I guess. :D (I’m here just to appreciate my fave show and character(s) anyway so more often for me it’s “fun first, learn later if in the mood”. ;)) So I'll step into the new year and take whatever inspiration I shall have.

They took everything from us. And then they called me a monster.

AKA a study in angst, Flint 1x07. Been too long since I painted some proper S1 Flint so here goes. I was planning on doing a different color scheme this time but this is what I ended up with anyway. This was a pretty difficult piece to do due to the lighting in the original scene, but I’m pretty happy with the result. Especially with the eyes, and I fought with the shirt quite a bit so I’m glad that turned out ok. I ended up leaving some parts slightly rough because this took a really long time, but I enjoyed adding in some details anyway... ;p

I was using 2 different reference photos for this one, didn’t really feel like figuring out what I wanted to do with the shirt, so... it’s barely there lol. I like working in this simpler style lately so I don’t have to fight with colors that much... also somehow I actually liked the rough lines so decided to just leave it this way.

Since I haven’t posted anything in ages (once again), here’s a silverflint wip sketch I just started, with a phantom arm (or two) at the moment bc I haven’t yet decided where I’m going to put silver lol. and I haven’t planned flint’s face yet at all either, but i messed around with the torso a little and liked it, so.

Painted in Photoshop, mostly with oil brushes. This was so much fun tbh, and I’m actually happy with how it turned out (especially that the hair & shirt turned out ok, lol). Played with color layers a little bit after it was otherwise finished.

Some 2x03 Flint, because apparently I was very inspired by the night shots of him at Miranda’s cottage there. A lovely opportunity to paint some of that profile again. :p In general I’m still trying to figure out how to work colors in better & new ways. As usual this was painted in PS and I mostly used oil brushes this time.

this is at doodle stage atm since i just started it, but, i figured maybe i’ll finish it more likely/faster if i actually make a post? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s been too long since the last one anyways, so.

the entire thing has their faces in it, too, but those currently look like dirt, hence the cropping. ;)
