“For some reason when I read music the notes like to jump lines and it makes it hard for me to read music. I have always written my notes in. The band director knows. So one of seniors in my section dropped her flip folder and she had to share with me. She didn’t know and has only been playing tuba for a year after she switched and I was so embarrassed. She asked why and I told her but I felt embarrassed. She didn’t really say anything. I still am embarrassed. Like I have been playing the tuba for almost 4 years and I can’t read music. I can if I sat down and thought about it. I write them in without a chart. My brain just doesn’t work fast enough to read them while playing the song at the right tempo. I hate it and feel so stupid.”
