i have high school band placement auditions sometime next week and i’m really freaking out because we never got audition music and barely any info about the whole thing. i get really nervous about this stuff to the point where my hands shake (not fun), and going in blind to this audition does not help at all. any advice?

Sorry I know this is definitely too late but honestly it’s as simple as practicing as much as you can and trying to go off of muscle memory. I’ll be honest o can never remember how auditions went after I’m done with them because I pretty much just block out everything.

Hey, if you do actually have crippling anxiety, how do you deal with playing in class?? I have really bad anxiety to the point where I fake almost every note, and dread band class but really like playing and actually take private lessons with my band director. Being a third chair flute it doesn't help my anxiety. Do you have any tips or suggestions???

If you’re having trouble being comfortable playing with your band maybe just try and slowly start trying to integrate yourself into the band everyday until you feel natural practicing everything with your band.
