#5. There's a difference between knowing how to do something and having the attitude to not mess it up.
Do you like the hand-lettered comics, or do you prefer printed text?
Hand-lettered
Printed text
I'm going back and forth. Writing the text makes spacing the panels easier, but I'm worried it's less readable.
comic #4. Being a system hasn't been all doom and gloom - there are hard parts, but our affection for one another has been healing from a time when there was no affection in our lives.
i love your artstyle so much oh my god <33 it reminds me of ancient art like cave paintings or egyptian art, something about how the characters are stamped and their heads are 3/4 while their bodies can take many perspectives. i just love it sooo muchi wish i could do it like you <3 i hope you don't see this as an insult
Thank you very much! Artistically I'm very inspired by historical Mediterranean art, including ancient Egypt and Greece. The characters are indeed stamped using hand-carved stamps, which is how I achieve that effect:
I also like how it symbolizes that all of us share the same body, since each figure shares some stamps with the others while also having their own unique stamps.
If this sounds fun to you, I have good news! Stamp carving is honestly a very rewarding discipline, and easier than it seems. I use a cheap bootleg version of Speedway's speedy-carve linocut rubber and a Speedball linocut cutter. I also use oil of wintergreen to transfer my designs from printer paper to the carving block, but you can easily draw designs by hand, use carbon paper... lots of options. The comic is printed with various thrifted ink pads, but you can also use proper linocut ink and a brayer and even print your own shirts and accessories!
If you have a Blick's art supply store near you, they should carry everything you need, though they'll charge a bit more than if you shop around for a good deal online.
Already really appreciating this on comic #2 as another non-amnesiac system. At least as far as we know. We're pretty new 😵💫
Thank you!
Being new to the community is difficult, especially with an experience that's less common or doesn't fit neatly into predefined categories of experience. There's a lot of self-discovery that comes with having a lot of self. If I can give some advice: Self-interpretation is a difficult skill that has to be learned. Everyone makes mistakes when trying to figure yourself out, so don't worry about being wrong. It's easiest if you go with the flow and try new things! :)
pickin' up pieces, #3. syscovery comes from a lot of places; Myra is very much the biggest "odd one out" of us, although there's more to the story than I could fit here.
pickin' up pieces, comic #2. The non-amnesiac experience is interesting and often not discussed much among systems, so I wanted to say my thoughts.
