REBLOG IF YOU HAVE THE NUMBER “2″ IN ANY PART OF YOUR BIRTHDAY.
I saw this post a few days ago and made a mental note to find it and come back to it. I thought “Don’t a whole lot of people have a ‘2′ somewhere in their birthday? This seems like reblog bait”
I told my friend about this and he calculated the rough probability of having a “2″ somewhere in your birthday. If we’re only talking about the Month/Day format, then 179/365 or 180/366(on leap years) dates during the year will have a “2″ in them. You can see how the total is arrived at below.
The number of dates (in month/day format) by month that will contain the number “2″ in them:
January – 12 days
February – 28 on regular year, 29 on leap year
March – 12
April – 12
May – 12
June – 12
July – 12
August – 12
September – 12
October – 12
November – 12
December – 31
So about 49% of the dates in the year will have a “2″ in them. If you’re talking about the Month/Day/Year format, then the likelihood of a “2″ appearing in the date is even higher because some years have a “2″ in them, creating another opportunity for a “2″ to appear in your birth date.
I’ll guess that the majority of Tumblr users were born between 1980 and 2002 (if you change the years, it doesn’t make much of a difference). That encompasses 8401 days with 8401 unique dates. 5053 of those dates will have the number “2″ In them.
The number of dates (in month/day/year format) by year that will contain the number 2:
1980 – 180/366 1981 – 179/365
1982 – 365/365 1983 – 179/365
1984 – 180/366 1985 – 179/365
1986 – 179/365 1987 – 179/365
1988 – 180/366
1989 – 179/365 1990 – 179/365
1991 – 179/365 1992 – 366/366
1993 – 179/365 1994 – 179/365
1995 – 179/365 1996 – 180/366
1997 – 179/365 1998 – 179/365
1999 – 179/365 2000 – 366/366
2001 – 365/365 2002 – 365/365
So about 60% of dates written Month/date/year in these 23 years will have a “2″ somewhere in them.
Even if you took out the years 2000-2002, which all have a “2″ in them, 54% of the dates written Month/date/year in the 20 years between 1980-1999 will still have a “2 somewhere in them.
Any way you slice it, there’s nothing particularly special about having the number “2″ in part of your birthday and this post is just reblog bait.

Antarctica René Koster
The Project ‘Antarctica’ shows a series of photographs of a voyage to the South Pole. I travelled with a sailing ship which was built in 1911; the same period the last great expeditions left for the unknown continent.
Thoughts of frozen ships trapped in ice-covered seas cross my mind, images of the photographers who joined these expeditions to report of the unexplored. Fascinated by their stories I head for the same circumstances as those of the early twentieth century. A journey of longing, to a time that once was. An heroic saga; filled with hardship and adventure, in an infinite, barren land.
