INSIDE's theme

Knowing my story's theme is important. So for #Picturebooking process DAY 13 I decided to publicly define my stories theme.

"Inside" is a picture book about understanding ourselves in relation to the universe. In one story I hope to share how far and how close this universe is. And humanities unique role in it.

#Picturebooking process DAY 10

This is a quick character study for my "Inside" story. I am pretty far along the in the story process to not have my main character's nailed down. But, for this story, the concept is more important than the characters.

Actually this pose is the closest the audience will ever get to this character. And my plan is to crop the head dramatically. You can see the gray line through the sketch. I want to keep a little mystery to these characters but I also want this girl to stand out in a crowd. So her silhouette is super important (hence the pigtails).

The pigtails also give the girl a really young look. This image makes her look super young but in general I'd like her age to be 11-13.
