Amen to that. I didn’t get a smart phone til I could pay for it. My parents were real big on the whole “teah a man to fish” thing so if we wanted somethin’ passed what was needed, we were on our own. My father wants us to know the value of money and all that.
Smart man. I do believe if I have my own kids, I will follow the same principle.

I do remember my first phone. My parents got us each a phone in high school. The iPhone had already come out but we were given nonsmart phones. We were told we didn’t need the fancy stuff. We just needed to be able to communicate with them when practices were over and what not. Sometimes I consider going back to it.
