A/n : ꒥꒷ . I haven't posted anything for a while, also I have been indulging myself in epic the musical, and I've decided I should write a fic for estes :3

estes x reader.

preview ┆︎ the KING has fallen into a deep slumber, which after a while ends up to suitors standing at your palace, pressuring you into chosing a new husband.

(guess what this was based on "the challenge" from epic the musical)

Suitors, standing where the throne of you, your husband usually sits, but it has been a long time since you last seen him awoke right? But the real issue is, you have to deal with these suitors.

Estes was in a deep slumber, sleeping for only the primordial gods know how long, you could only hope it wouldn't be an eternity, as these suitors patience is wearing thin. You've known they are only hungry for power to become the new moon elf king.

Thankfully, due to miya protection, they won't be able to harm you, or break into your bedroom door, to do unspeakable things.

Last night, you've seen a meteor passing down the midnight skies, lighting up new hopes, a sign to the king— No, your husband, that his awakening is soon.

today was the day, where you said you'll choose a new husband, after all, it's been a while and these suitors are waiting, waiting. You had been buying time but now the day has finally come. You've used up all of your options.

That leaves you, to give the suitors a challenge. A challenge they cannot do. You've walked through the gardens, holding an unstring bow that only Miya and estes can string it themselves. The suitors make way for you, a path as you walk past them, then turning around to let everyone see the bow.

“whoever can string my husband's old bow and shoot through 12 axes cleanly.. will be the new king, sit down at the throne.."

You've paused.

"and rule with me as his queen.."

You dropped the bow on the table, not sparing a glance to anyone as you stood across the 12 axes.

"Let the arrow fly, once you know that your aim is true." They can't do it, they won't, which is why you've given these power-hungry suitors, an impossible challenge, and if they can complete the challenge, you'll end up dying anyways, due to that part of the challenge, the twelve axes.

hours and hours pass, as suitors and suitors take their turn to try and complete this challenge. What they didn't know, it was supposed to be impossible, it was for you to buy time, for your husband as you have hopes he will wake up soon, for as suitors and suitors failed to string the bow.

Going back to the garden as you turned around to find your dear husband, face to face surprising you. As you didn't expect he would awoke sooner than later.

Estes told you to stay in the bedroom, let's just say.. it really was a palace covered in red, as he walked into the bedroom, face covered with blood. Questioning you to.. will you fall in love with him again, even tho he has been slumbering for a long time?

Of course..

"i.. will fall in love with you, over and over again. I don't care how when or where, no matter how long it has been."

"you're MINE!" as to how, he would DARE question your loyalty, to think you've fallen out of love after all this time.

"Love.." You haven't been called that nickname for a while, but it felt different, the same from when we got married, how many years has it been since you've been called "Love?" well it didn't matter, as long as the both of us are here, Together. You both hugged each other..

and the ending is up to interpretation, sorry mb guys I suck at writing endings. Anyways, sorry if it feels short. 😭..

But you got lost, and encountered a demon, the creature turns to you, looking at you. Then lashes out at you, leaving a scratch, till it freezes. Upon hearing the sounds of a violin playing.

You wonder? Could this be your lover? But this wound really hurts so bad.. as the sounds get closer, you hear gunshots, turning around. The creature corpse lays on the ground, with signs of no life in it.

" what are you doing here, [ name ]? It's not safe here. " Your lover, asked— right— how could you forget? Valentines day, you were a bit focused on only your wounds hurting. As you reach out for your gift, GRANGER looks at you with confused yet worried eyes. Looking at your wounds.

You handed a gift to him, it's your valentines gift for him,

"... Please, take it. It's— for you."

Your lover thanked you, as he planted a kiss on your forehead. he helps you take care of your wounds. and brought you to your shared room with him.

“ don't ever go out looking for me like that ever again alright [ name ] I worry for you. And I'm afraid you will get hurt like this again.."

Just want to add to this, because all of these are wonderful synonyms, but too all you baby writers out there, please please please remember that many, if not alll of these have special meanings and before plugging them into spice up your writing know what they mean.

Outraged and annoyed are very different, and also mean something other than mad. As do bellowed and said.

Here is an example:

The man strode into the bar, dressed in a disheveled suit and a scowl on his face, not exactly a pretty one either. I read his expression swiftly, the ire in his eyes, the slump in his posture. He beckoned me foward with the flick of his finger.

“A scotch. Whatever’s best. Neat.” He demanded all of this with a curt voice, and not turning to look at me. I put down the glass I was drying and went to fetch him his drink.

“Yes,” I said. I wanted him to leave and get home as fast as possible. A man not willing to play nice is one thing sober, but even a little alcohol could turn these murky waters to something mercurial.

Here is an example (modified):

“Yes,” I whined. I wanted him to leave and get home as fast as possible. A man not willing to play welcoming is one thing sober, but even a little alcohol could turn these murky waters to something mercurial.

You see how the slight change of word changes the story slightly. Making sure you understand the word is so important and also understanding that some of these words shouldn’t be replaced with a synonym (looking at you said), it’s an invisible word (like a character’s name is) and isn’t really glanced at. But if it feels repetitive than instead of replacing ‘said’ with another word that means it. Go for an action.

So:

“A scotch. Whatever’s best. Neat.” He demanded all of this with a curt voice, and not turning to look at me. I put down the glass I was drying and went to fetch him his drink.

Could be even more impactful as:

“A scotch. Whatever’s best. Neat.” He didn’t look at me with his curt voice and demanding tone, just stared in the reflection of himself in the mirror behind the wooden shelves stacked with bottles of liquor. I put down the glass I was drying and went to fetch him his drink.

I remember being young and having the magic Spellbook called the thesaurus and plugging in any synonym I could, but every grimoire as rules and every spell as a catch. The same goes for words, and getting caught up in not knowing how to use them can make some pretty wacky stories.
