Literally my favorite part of that session was BigB's Creaking Skin and the art it created, and this may be my favorite of all the art inspired by that session!

and out of the darkness - you you you you you
meet my multiple inconsistemt artsytle alo bye
you know what’s fucking insane? Making dark content creators revive their trauma just to explain to you why they write what they write; making dark content creators feel guilty about writing about problematic tropes as if they agree with it; making dark content creators a victim of your self-righteous, self-congratulatory anger just because you actively engage in content you’re not fond of instead of ignoring it. please log off
you don’t walk out of a horror movie thinking that the director supports killing people. you don’t read books about true crime or even crime solving mysteries and think that the author approves whatever the hell happens in there. dark content exists not only in real life but in fiction, and it’s not because writers want to experiment with it in fictional and controlled environments that they’re promoting those behaviors. this is bonkers to me. completely off the wall. if you cannot engage in a story without having to see blatant and stereotypical good vs evil and the bad guys losing, then I’m sorry for you. what the fuck.
also, warnings are there for a reason. if you read the warnings and still choose to engage in that story, knowing that there are triggering topics for you, it’s not the author’s fault. Simple as that. Their responsibility is to put proper tags on their works, and it’s on the reader if they wish to proceed or not. No one is holding you at gunpoint and making you read anything.
also. block tags and keywords. Filter your searches. and if you’re under the age of eighteen, go do your homework or something.
also, probably the most controversial opinion to come out of this post: your fave anime boy isn’t real. And this is coming from neurodivergent girl who has a blog solely to write reader inserts. They’re a bunch of lines and traits that someone imagined. They’re not hurting, they’re not real people. You can put them in whichever context you want and it doesn’t matter. So if you’re putting the fictitious feelings of an anime character in front of actual people just writing for fun... I cannot stress this enough: log off.
i must say, i am a huge fan of when a book is in the middle of a very exciting plot containing many interesting problems when out of nowhere for a few pages it's like, "hey by the way, real quick, here's a detailed explanation of the city's water filtration system! i'm telling you this for a reason and you should worry about it. anyway! haha okay back to the plot" and you just get to be Scared for a while
i am kissing you on the mouth right now
you are the only person who understands me. you and the person who tagged a series of unfortunate events
chiron asking annabeth to weave percy’s shroud while he’s on ogygia and they think he’s dead. annabeth weaving obsessively during the day because it gives her something to focus on even if everyone is concerned about how she throws herself into it, no food no sleep no breaks. then every night she frantically unweaves it because no shroud means no funeral and if they don’t burn it, he’s not actually dead. finally finishing it just about to burn it and percy shows up and she feels relief because she knewwww it. percy and annabeth taking turns mirroring odysseus and penelope oh lord make me normal about them
if you make a post complaining about sexism in fandom you will Always get people in the notes that try to lampshade the very phenomenon you're critiquing. "where are the woman in fanfiction, they all seemed to have disappeared" meanwhile a dozen people are loling in the notes saying they do this intentionally bc they dont like to write women
I think of the rule: if you magically change the gender of every character and you wonder where all the men are, you need to add more women to story.

saw this fanart by @forrpercyy and i screamed when i realised that it's annabeth and percy looking at a statue of andromeda and perseus, because of a thought i had the other day. leah got so much hate for not being "book accurate" or whatever. correct me if i'm wrong, but her looks are actually mythologically accurate. if you're not familiar, andromeda was the daughter of cepheus and cassiopeia, princess of ethiopia, hence a black woman. she was sacrificed by her parents to the sea monster cetus after her mother, claiming to be more beautiful than the nereids, caused the anger of poseidon. soaring the sky back from the quest of decapitating medusa, perseus spotted the princess chained to a rock and slaughtered the monster, saving her. i'm not saying annabeth's character was entirely inspired by andromeda, but seeing someone had a similar thought process to mine was really satisfying.
finished the serie recently so i just had to draw my precious perfect most gorgeous daughter
and percy.

yk what would be nice?
a faithful adaptation of a book series, with canonically-accurate characters and a non-diverging plot, with good production and a high budget, thats just as immersive and full of character as the books
but unfortunately, a unicorn is more realistic
Yeah… because a medium controls how a story is told, and so it’s impossible to make an accurate adaptation be a faithful adaptation 😔 because to have a faithful adaptation to the story means making changes that will allow the story to be told.
If a book was made into a show/movie verbatim to the book the story would be completely different because books use prose, and prose allows descriptions of smell and touch, internal pov, and a fixed attention to detail.
A character in a book can miss the bloody footprint on a ground, and so the reader will miss it, but the viewer of a show may not miss that, will not miss that, and so to keep the suspense of the story, that details may need to moved around.
An adaptation that is faithful to the story isn’t that uncommon. But an adaptation that is accurate or identical is impossible, or at least impossible to be entertaining and ergo a waste of money.
Crack idea, but Parent trap & pho crossover. Where two identical twins are put up for adoption by a mortal who go busy with a god, and they are both raised by single parents who independently adopted them, and the twins, Halle and Annie, manage to survive long enough to get to camp half blood. They eventually get claimed by Dionysus, and his kids are graduated (or dead…) and now have to share a cabin alone, realizing the situation, they switch places once the summer is over to try and set their very single parents up together. Yes Meredith Blake would 100% be a monster disguised by the mist.
Yes I picked Dionysus because the dad owns a vineyard.
like i quite literally have never been more passionate about anything than i am about the human race’s invariable desire to tell stories and the fact that we always find a way to do it, through spoken language and written language and body language and visual art and theater and poetry and oral tradition and a million other things. there are so many things we take for granted about the human experience that we never stop to think about but i really want you to take a step back and consider how fucking amazing it is that our need to tell stories transcends all boundaries of time and geography and borders and language. it is one of very few things that is legitimately intrinsic to human nature and i will never stop being completely in awe of humanity for that.
Fun fact; the Greek term used to describe the horse Death rides is χλωρός khlōrós, which translates to pale or pallid, more specifically a pale green or yellow-green, refering to the colour of a corpse.
It can also translate to youthful or verdant, refering to the colour of fresh growth and unripened fruit and is the root of words like chlorophyll.
What I'm saying is Death's car in SPN should have looked less like this:

percy invites annabeth to sally/paul's wedding and she gets so excited to go and she spends hours (with silena) doing her hair and make up and trying out all these clothes to figure out what to wear and she's soooooo excited to go to this wedding
percy sitting thru the long ass reception until his body feels like a thousand knives are stabbing him all over and he just needs to move and he's a little upset because annabeth never showed up but it's fine it's not like she had to attend...percy walks out only to find annabeth sitting outside on the curb covered in blood and dirt and monster dust and her dress is torn and her hair is a mess and her make up is ruined because she fought tooth and nail to attend this wedding only to be attacked left and right by monsters and ruining all her hard work and she couldn't bring herself to walk in looking a mess and she's still crying-
