ThunderClan group photo! Everybody as of Chasing Shadows, minus the kits because I didn't feel like drawing them here and there is a limit to how many cats my tablet will let me draw lol.

I drew all of ThunderClan back when I was rereading the whole series and got up to Long Shadows in 2022, and I thought it would be fun to do again.

#kinda surprised procreate only crashed twice while I was doing this. my tablet uhhmm... leaves some things to be desired lol #thunderclan #my art #finished this surprisingly fast. I just needed something to do with my hands #I spent pretty much every minute of my spare time writing a fic (for another fandom) for like two months #it ended up about 50k words which is. a lot longer than I was expecting. and I'm really shocked I finished it at all #now that it's done I have no idea what to do with my free time lol #well actually I would like to edit the final chapter a bit but other than that #so I started drawing this. now that this is done I'm REALLY lost lmao #what I need to do is finish my oc refs before art fight but I don't WANNA

#in case I never finish the thing I'm working on. I want to but it'll take a while #it's nice to have a simple but time consuming project for when I'm bored at work lol #anyway I'm currently house sitting and there's a long haired cat here who is very friendly #follows me everywhere greets me at the door sleeps on my feet at night sits next to me while I'm writing #and she's soooooo soft. gave me a need to draw a fluffy cat #squirrelstar #squirrelflight #thunderclan #my art #I decided I'm gonna start tagging leaders with both their warrior names and leader names #because sometimes I use one and sometimes the other and lemme tell ya. pain in the ASS to search my own tags lmao #one day I'll fix all my tags...

All finished with Chasing Shadows! Forgive me if my thoughts are scattered. (I've been running on ≤6 hours of sleep per night for over a month. 🫠)

I am so, SO intrigued by the idea of Starlingpaw being a potential troublemaker and just pleased as punch that this seems to be the direction they're taking him. Boy who just wants to do his best to save everyone but makes the situation worse in the process??? Beautiful 👍 Hope they lean into it fully. Make him the two faced cat.

Moonpaw is so sad, girl really is just having back to back the worst day of her life every day. I'd say her chapters were the most fun to read. Her relationships with other characters are a delight! I love her friendships with Jayfeather, Goldenpaw and Shinepaw, Sunbeam, and her interaction with Tree. Also her attacking Goldenpaw in her sleep was wonderfully horrific.

Tawnypelt's chapters were the least interesting to me because they all pretty much were the same thing over and over: Arguing with Tigerstar, wondering where she belongs, talking to elders about nothing much useful. I do wonder where she's gonna wind up by the end and I kinda hope it's not WindClan. As much as TawnyCrow genuinely just makes me laugh because I am SO far beyond caring about ship logic at this point, for now I don't feel like a move to WindClan would be narratively satisfying to me.

#overall book was fine! I didn't have a lot of strong feelings but it was interesting #also I know brambleclaw has been giving off death flags this whole arc but I'm still a tiny bit surprised they actually let him die #they're just so bad at killing old characters lol #anyways rice in peas old man. brambleclaw has always been his most interesting (to me) while not a deputy/leader #I just wish squirrelstar hadn't publicly shamed herself so much at his funeral. girl it's okay!!!#chasing shadows #pigeon mews #do you know how often I type that and accidentally type pigeon mess instead #I have a headache... so I'm just gonna end this post here!#changing skies spoilers

I can't lie, Tawnypelt's grief over Brambleclaw's declining condition is really hard to read, because I just went through this in real life. Probably for the best that I didn't get around to picking up this book from the library sooner because I don't think I would've been able to read this chapter even just a week ago. 😅

#to be clear it's not a problem with the book. this stuff is well done! it's just hard for me personally at the moment #it's a very brief scene that I'm on but it's just. brambleclaw looking so limp and weak in his nest #jayfeather whispering his goodbyes to him and squirrelstar being unable to handle it in the moment #it's giving me flashbacks to going to visit my grandma in hospice in the days before she died #she looked so weak and that was very hard to see. she actually woke up for a few minutes while I was there one day #it was the only time anyone saw her open her eyes while she was in hospice. we all gathered around to talk to her #she couldn't respond but she was definitely trying to smile. it was the last time she was able to do even that much #she passed away three weeks ago. I'm coping with everything just fine at this point but some reminders are still hard #even though we weren't that close — not since I was a child — she was my only grandparent and she's always been there you know?#and the loss has made me much more aware of the fact that my parents are getting old too. and that's very hard.#ah anyway I'm gonna finish this chapter and maybe go draw. see if I can do that without straining my left hand #I might delete this later idk 😅 just rambling... stuff that's been on my mind lately...#pigeon mews #pigeon personal #adding that too because yeah #chasing shadows

#she does seem sweet!#her description is interesting bc the book simultaneously refers to her as black with white paws and black and white #which aren't really conflicting descriptions but they express different ideas in my mind #saying a cat is black with white paws to me says. well. just that. the only significant white fur is her paws #while just ''black and white'' suggests to me that both colors are more or less evenly distributed #or that there are enough white markings that it's a much quicker description than saying all the specific places that are white #but that's just how descriptions work in my head #anyway I chose to stay close to the ''black with white paws'' description in the allegiances but added a couple more small white marks #so that both ways can work #that's just the amount of thought I put into some of these cats #designing them in my own style according to my own perception while still sticking as close as possible to canon is very fun #bess #bess wc #cats outside the clans #my art #I would've drawn this much sooner but it's been quite a week. I was busy and I got sick. Wow I read all of Hidden Moon in one day. Still kinda processing it. Honestly not much happened in it but it was really enjoyable. A lot of compelling character interactions. A big step up from The Elders' Quest which frankly I didn't like much. I'll make a proper post when I have the brain cells for it.

Drawing on a different screen is really wild sometimes because I'll colorpick from an older drawing of mine and be flabbergasted by how saturated the colors are lol.

#I adjusted my starlingpaw design and gave him brighter green eyes #they're a light leaf green on my laptop screen. apparently on this tablet screen they are LIME green. very startling #not changing em though. he can have bright green eyes. as a treat #pigeon personal

Learning to use a new art program by drawing another Moonpaw. Keeping it simple while I get used to crazy tech such as... a touch screen.
