The alley is dark, the walls pressing onto Tyler. It smells strangely of smoke. The bird lands on a dripping pipe.

"Why did you lead me here, bird?" Tyler asks. "Carrion-eating scaven---"

Tyler gasps as he is pinned to the wall, his mouth covered by a rough hand. Another pair of legs tangle into his, keeping him trapped against the bricks. "That isn't no carrion-eating scavenger," a hoarse voice hisses in his ear, "that's Death itself." Tyler trembles as he feels the cold tip of a dagger at his throat. His mouth is carefully bound with layers of cloth; his wrists tied with thick rope.

He instinctively kicks out, his sneakers colliding with his capturer's ribs. Tyler's attacker let go of him, yelping in pain. Tyler tries to run, almost falling flat on his face because of his bound arms.

The attacker pins Tyler down again, and Tyler knows its a man. Tyler struggles weakly, feebly kicking and making muffled noises. The man's grip is far too strong.
