Watercolor Teacups - Spooky

I have a series of 12 teacups that I'm going to try to watercolor by the end of the year. The first one is Spooky. My friend suggested a kind of Disneyland Haunted Mansion theme, so I went with that.

Watercolor is not a medium that I am very comfortable with yet, so this should be an interesting challenge. Between these and some other watercolor projects that i need to do hopefully I'll be more confidant with it by February.

Bag End Repaint

Twelve years ago I painted Bag End from Lord of the Rings, and for a while now I've been thinking that I'm no longer happy with how it looks, so I finally decided to update it by painting over the old painting. I love how it turned out! It's amazing to see how much I've improved over the years.

Porthole Cat

Originally I had this idea as something to paint on a circle canvas that I have, but the other day I was looking in my sketchbook for something else that I'm planning and came across this sketch and decided that I wanted to do it as a sort of warm up, and then it turned into a full art piece XD. The fish are sort of inspired by real fish, but the shapes and the coloring are each two different fish, so I guess they're all hybrid fish or something.

Disney Mari

This is one of the ones that I decided to update for my calendar this year. It's based off this one from Catober and this one that I have as my phone cover. This one will be used for August (my birthday month). Maybe someday I'll figure out how to make a cat sized spinning teacup so Mari can actually enjoy the Mad Tea Party like I do (Maybe I can put it on top of a roomba)

Mari in Teacup

This is one of the ones that I decided to update for my calendar this year. It's based off this one that I did not long after I found Mari, and it's based off a picture I took while we were weighing her the day we found her (the original teacup is actually a small planter, but she was still pretty tiny back then). Since we found her in June I decided that this would be used for June in my calendar.

Watermelon Mari I took a picture of Mari on my watermelon skirt and have been using it as my work computer's background ever since, so I thought it would be cute to make some art inspired by it. This will be May for my calendar.

Hobbit Mari

I got Mari a hobbit hole cat door for my bedroom door so she could come and go, and I have sunflowers painted on the back of my door, so every time she sits there I think of this and so I had to draw it!

I decided to use this as my April calendar page this year.

Mari and Teacup Since this is the year of the snakey (the name of Mari's favorite snake toy), I decided that my calendar would be all Mari, so I've been updating some of my Mari drawings and working on a couple new ones. This one (February) is an updated version of my very first Mari drawing.

Foggy Beach This photo is from 2016. I went on a short photography road trip with my dad and got a lot of nice pictures (many of them have been posted before and have been on my etsy shop). This picture was taken on our way home.

Happy New Year!

2025 is the year of the Snakey, so here's Mari with her favorite Snakey and a snake based on one of her other snakeys to wish you a happy new year! (she will be at the top of the stairs waiting for someone to come praise her snakey catching abilities and wish her happy new year)
