hping3
You can also use hping3 to do a ping. Use this command:
hping3 -1 8.8.8.8
And you get these results. The output is a bit different from the regular ping tool but it does the same thing.

Ping test
A ping test lets you check if a specific ip address is connected to the internet and it's reachable from your current network.
For example we can do:
ping www.google.com
You should some replies, which contain some useful information like the RTT (Round-Trip-Time) sometimes know as 'lag' or 'ping'. This indicates how long it took the server to respond.
