I've been dabbling in learning to paint with acrylics lately, and I have this old flat glass pickle/veggie tray I've been carting around for years but never used. Turns out, it makes an awesome pallet for paint! 🤣Acrylic paint comes off of glass easily without damaging it and I'm finally getting use out of it since I'm not fancy enough to actually put out pickle/veggie trays when people come over! 😂 People often seem to find it surprising that I haven't dabbled in fine art things too much before, since I'm a graphic designer, but I fully believe it's never to late to pick up a new hobby. I also think it's important for all designers, to work on personal or side projects in their "spare" time. It helps exercise abstract thinking, strengthens creative muscles, helps to get you out of/or from falling into a creative rut, and at least for me it allows me think about using texture differently. I was so excited to get my new brochures in this week, I was pretty disappointed to have to send them back due to color discrepancies on the cover. The cover is on the right and the same picture was used in a coffee table book last year which is on the left. (It's of our louver project at San Francisco State University's library) Waay too red and green. 😕BUT, I just so happen to work with an awesome printer who came back to get them today and is going to reprint the covers and rebind all 2,500 of them to make it right. Apparently working during the day didn't help me get any sun this year, I look like I'm glowing next to everyone else in the picture! 😂 AWV Helping Hands, an employee-run community outreach program I've been serving on the committee for since we started it a few months back, was featured in the Holland-Springfield Journal for our Back-To-School program. We collected and assembled backpacks for 100 kids at Holland Elementary, collected a large donation of supplies for LEAP Special Education Program (their Holland location is next door to our corporate office), and donated to/volunteered with a school fair in Rising Sun to help kids in Lakota school district get supplies as well. We didn't have a lot of time to pull things together but everything came out nicely in the end. #giveback #supportlocalkids #ghostlife #iglowinthedark
