Study session with my friend and suddenly it started pouring
I can lighten up more since there is going to be almost a week off soon except I really can't because the very next day I have an exam but I can definitely have some more free time :]
Be stronger than your excuses.
30.5.
in the pics: my chaotic and kinda pink desk setup, some pretty roses, loving maps in books, kinda pretty notes (for my standards)
got my first adderall prescription yesterday! started takin it toay, hopeing it will help me continuing the semester as i hoped it would go from the start on. dont get me wrong, i'm doing okay in my courses, not feeling too lost most of the time. but the motivation i had shortly before the semester while studying for my redo exams was something else, i want that back. i hope ill get into that mood again when exam weak approaches.
currently reading my 15th book this year (hell bent by leigh bardugo) and i love it.
started going trough the lecture summaries my prof made for theoretical quantum dynamics today. and yes, i did buy new pretty notebooks so its more fun writing them down on paper. i just know its easier going through it again that way.
my life is pretty wild rn tho. going out way more often than expected, this weekend again, next week a festival and the week after another party and my flatmate moves out! exciting new things to come (:
Wizard worm just emerged from a wizarding hole! Lucky you!!!✨🪱🪄🍀
Fuck it, random specific experiences poll:
I had heart surgery within my first month of life.
I naturally have fewer than four wisdom teeth.
I've done a dissection on a shark.
I've been in the same room as a murderer, definitively, not just statistically.
My hometown has a prominent statue of a giant body part.
I switched instruments midway through marching band.
I'm a published playwright.
I have at least one conlang I've developed for over a year.
More than one of these.
None of these.
Obligatory reference to sample size.

the boxing method
the boxing method is a systematic approach to note-taking, involving drawing boxes around related pieces of information to visually organize and categorize content on a page.
by enclosing related content within boxes, you create a clear visual separation between different topics or ideas. this clarity helps you quickly identify main points and supporting details when reviewing your notes.
visual learners often benefit from spatial organization. the boxes provide a spatial representation of relationships between ideas. seeing the content arranged in this way reinforces memory and understanding.
but how do you use this method of notetaking?
topic clusters: start by writing down thoughts, ideas, and concepts related to a particular topic vertically next to each other. these form a topical cluster of information.
boxing topics: as new topics are introduced, create boxes around the previous topical clusters. each box visually separates different topics or ideas. you can think of it as creating compartments for related content.
an alternate option is to highlight instead of box. this allows for the use of different colours!
here are some pictures to give you an idea: note: these images are from pinterest
luck for your notetaking!

Grad school is lying to you. You can indulge fixations on obscure topics on your own time. You can sit in a library color-coding notes on articles printed from JSTOR for free. You can argue with dead philosophers in essay format whenever you like. Academia is a state of mind.
one thing that so many students forget is that, a win is a win. if you planned on doing english homework but instead you finished your history essay, celebrate that, don’t be upset taht you didn’t sick to your plan, at least you got SOMETHING DONE. a win is a fucking win and don’t let anyone tell you different.
