Changing and growing The important stuff happens on the floor. Patient care is the center. But if I'm doing paperwork, or I'm giving injections does it change who I am as a nurse? If you don't change and you don't grow, who are you anyway?
My life....going off a pier.
Homework
Homework and work and homework and work. Aaah!
I appreciate people that are patient with me while I’m distant and trying to figure myself out
Absolutely. Though I am starting to wonder when I’m going to figure myself out.
Glitter
The snow is glittering this morning. I used to like the snow, and then I ended up having to drive in it all the time. Glitter is the daily prompt. You put glitter on pants, on shirts, on dresses, on birthday hats. If you put beads in your knitting (an art I haven’t mastered yet), you can put glitter just about everywhere. I am not a big fan of glitter, to be honest. I always thought that too much…

Blur
Blur is the daily prompt, and honestly it really resonates with me. I feel like a blur, most of the time. Going so fast that I can’t even catch myself, running as hard as I can for the end of the shift, when please God everything will be done. The meds will be given, the treatments done, most of the notes written. Just go. Worry about the rest of it later. It’s about how fast you are, which isn’t…

WTF is the new normal, but maybe we can harness the power of WTF for good.
I think I actually agree.
Review: Dragonfly in Amber
Review: Dragonfly in Amber
Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon My rating: 4 of 5 stars There is a lot happening in this book, and though as I have mixed feelings about all these books so far (possibly a little too graphic for my taste – so I skip over those parts), the quality of the writing and the pacing seems to make up for it. Nursing
I am so tired of gossip!
Oh joy
I just finished my finals and now they want me to come into work....And likely my family will suggest *gently * that is a good idea. Shit...shit...shit!!!!!
Finals are done.
They should get around to posting the final grades at some point, right?
Problems with homework
There are days when the disconnect between work and what I am learning is nearly unbearable.
Bludgeon
I don’t know that anything interesting can be said about the word bludgeon. So here we go again (always when you don’t know what you’re going to do with a word, figure out the history). Again, it isn’t terribly illuminating but it does tell you one thing. Apparently we need a lot of words to describe the various ways we commit violence on others. Comparatively speaking it’s an old word too.…

Copycat
Copycat…Hmm. Well, the first question is why cats? Why can’t you have a copydog, or a copylizard, or a copywalrus? I don’t know. Why cats exactly? Even the dictionary connected with this sort of things doesn’t really say. So after that etymological challenge, the next question I have is a very simple one. Is it a bad thing to copy? Certainly not in some circumstances. When you drive, you copy the…

Eerie
It’s all Hallow’s Eve. Of course the prompt is eerie . I’m mildly surprised it isn’t haunted or ghost or zombie or something. And of course Eerie can be anything. Music for example is a brilliant example of eeriness. Shubert’s unfinished symphony #8 for example, is classic Halloween music. The creepy basement where I work is another place which many consider very eerie. I don’t consider much…

Daily Prompt: Giant
Well, there is a disease known as giantism . Essentially the patient goes very quickly both in terms of height as well as girth. Usually there is some sort of disorder to the pituitary gland. From what I’ve heard, though pituitary surgery is absolutely no one’s idea of a good time, the treatment is usually successful. The side effects are that the the rest of the hormones which the pituitary…
