hey everyone, quick IRL update.  i’m finally settling into my new routine!!  i’ve made the decision to put my blog on a semi-hiatus while i’m still adjusting to my course load.  after all being a paramedic student involves lots of studying.  not only is the material heavy in general, but my program doesn’t stop in the summer, its a full 16 months of schooling.  until i am comfortable juggling work, school AND tumblr i will be on a SEMI-hiatus. i will still be around just my activity on tumblr will be very minimal.

AS IF SHE COULD.  telling him to stop would be like waking herself up from her FAVORITE dream.  who knew such a bad situation could create such a positive moment.  

hands sat gently on his hips for only a moment.  she wasn’t expecting to be THIS close to keith when she first planned on sneaking off of the castle of lions.  her hands gently moved to the edge of his armor.  eyes couldn’t help but linger on his lips before they finally met his eyes.  they were so close, AGAIN.  but this time was different.  no one was here to stop them this time.  a small smile curled her lips as she leaned in even closer, her lips brushing against his.  “don’t you dare stop now, keith.”  her voice was low as her eyes fell onto his lips once again.

the  weight  of  his  words  shine  bright  in  allura’s  eyes ,  her  fury  felt  without  her  uttering  a  single  word .  keith  had  taken  this  too  far ,  bringing  altea  and  her  father  into  their  pain .  but  there  still  lies  his  own  turmoil ,  mingled  with  acceptance  he  never  received  outside  his  team .  until  the  blades  came  into  play .  memories  of  her  coldness  fill  the  foreground  of  his  thoughts  as  dares  a  single  step  forward .

          ❝     ———  oh ,  you  wanna  talk  about  trust  and  forgiveness ?  GOOD .  let’s  talk  about  how  you  SHUNNED  me  when  you  found  out  where  i  really  come  from ;  even  though  my  life  has  no  bearing  on  the  tragedies  that  have  befallen  you  or  your  people .  let’s  talk  about  how  it’s  taken  you  years  to  come  around  to  the  idea  of  simply  being  around  galra  in  a  non - hostile  environment  but  when  the  likes  of  lotor  arrive ,  suddenly ,  where  HE  comes  from  doesn’t  matter !     ❞

keith’s  raised  voice  falters  on  the  final  sentiment  before  his  eyes  soften  as  he  inches  toward  her  once  more .          ❝     you  KNOW  why  i  left ,  allura .  you  know  this  meant  the  world  to  me .  how  could  i  ever  hope  to  love  you  if  i  don’t  know  how  to  love  myself ?      ❞

her heart dropped.  he was still holding that against her.  in all honestly she COULDN’T blame him.  that didn’t make this hurt any less though.  fists by her side were so tight she though she was going to puncture her own skin.  she tried to blink away the tears that were building up, but there was only so much she could do.  a soft sigh left her lips as his yelling stopped, this was far from over.  

“shunned? the one person in the entire universe i had let into my heart since my ENTIRE family and planet was destroyed, LIED to me.  you knew about that blade the entire time and never told me about it.  i let you IN, keith.  i opened up to you and i found out you were hiding things from me.  how am i suppose to be okay with that?  i was hurt.”  a single tear sat on the edge of her eye, refusing to fall. 

“you taught me to look forwards instead of being stuck in the past.  you taught me love ISN’T easy.  but you have to put something in it for it to work.  i’m not asking you to fall in love with me.  i can’t and won’t.  but something, ANYTHING.  a smile would do it.  but you’ve barely looked at me the entire time you have been back.”

first shiro —— now keith. both ex black paladins, both left him. now the mantle falls to his shoulders. he wanted to do them proud. shiro is too far out of commission to pick up the mantle again, he deserves a goddamn rest. but keith … keith left. again. maybe this time, it’s permanent. he can’t help but feel betrayed as his fingers trace the cold spot in his bed, as lips pressed to the outside of his old helmet for one last time before handing it to his successor. for the heaviness that weighs down his once proud shoulders, he may has well have had a funeral.

with all the lion switches, lance had to give up his beloved blue armor. he now wears the armor of the man he once REVERED. he’d heard the saying ‘ never get to know your heroes ’ back on earth —— and apparently it held true throughout the universe. who knew a test tube experiment could have its dreams crushed by a measly human? 

brows knit ( half worry, half anger ) and he frowns. she so reminds him of a certain ex teammate —— the hasty cover ups, the tender way she holds herself to not show she’s injured, all of it. his frown deepens. she’s a red paladin all right.     ❝   —-   allura.     ❞

for someone she was suppose to be head over heels for, as soon as he said her name her stomach twisted.  it was clear to see he was NOT happy.  she had it coming.  there was no way the black paladin was going to let her blatantly ignoring his orders be swept under the rug.  she wanted to reach out and just hug him but it wasn’t right.  she stood more than arms reach away from him and broke the heavy eye contact by glancing at the floor. 

the SILENCE after saying her name was almost unbearable.  he knew exactly what he was doing.  she wasn’t going to address her wounds.  yeah she probably should tell him, after all they were dating.  but she wanted to shut him and everyone else out.  she didn’t need help.  

“i know you’re here about the mission.” she huffed and a hand raised to gently grab at her ribs.  ouch.  she swallowed hard to silence a whimper and continued to speak.  “i know i shouldn’t have moved on without you.  but i was more vulnerable sitting in the same spot for too long.”  as if defending herself would make up for the fact that she DISOBEYED orders.

he  could  feel  the  heat  rise  to  his  cheeks ,  rigid  jaw  standing  out  in  the  castle’s  lighting  as  his  eyes  narrow .  he  feels  the  GUILT  tearing  through  his  chest ,  but  backing  down  is  not  an  option .

     turning  his  entire  body  to  face  her ,  indigo  flames  rage  with  unspoken  sentiments .  he  never  meant  to  hurt  her ,  to  leave  her .  he  might  not  have  even  expected  her  to  move  on  so  quickly .  but  the  damage  is  done .  there’s  no  putting  a  lid  on  this  so  he  opts  to  lean  into  it .  

❝     i  don’t  care  who  you  spend  your  time  with .  i  just  thought  you  were  smarter  than  THIS .  a  homicidal  maniac  is  one  thing .  but  the  son  of  the  MONSTER  that  DESTROYED  your  planet  and  took  your  father  from  you ?     ❞

her cold stare was unwavering as her continued to cut deep into her.  dragging her home and father into this wasn’t something she was going to take lightly.  one long blink to rid of the tears that were wielding up in her eyes, she needed a moment away from his eyes.  

her hands dropped back to her sides, fingers curled into a tight fists as she gathered her thoughts.  this pent up anger towards him and the way he has been the past few month, that felt like years, was enough to make her want to tear her own hair out.  eyes opening back up, the softness she had walking into the kitchen was gone.  

“zarkon took everything from me, everything that didn’t walk away that is. this coalition is built on trust and forgiveness.  even if it is hard for me, i know this is what my father would have wanted.  if king alfor and zarkon could keep the peace, who is to say lotor and i cannot?  he KILLED zarkon, keith.  he has done everything right once you left for the blade of marmora.  he is trying, he wants to help, he is HERE.”

    It’s an  unintentional  pout he can’t seem to resist.  Just as she admits internally that  he  is right , he knows  she  brings up a valid point.  If anything happened to him , putting the Black Lion in jeopardy could be the  WORST  possible outcome.  With Zarkon at it’s helm once more ————

He still worries for  Allura’s  safety ,  expression a dead giveaway of his conceding.  

   ❛  We always do ,  ❜   he admits , trying to hide the beginnings of her contagious smile infecting him.   ❛  …… I don’t think Coran will like this.  How am I supposed to convince him ?  ❜

her smile only grew as he cautiously gave her a little leeway.  she knew he had a point about not wanting her to come. but they really did make a good team, she had no doubts walking into this mission by shiro’s side.  he posed a good question with coran.  chewing on her bottom lip she thought for a moment before walking over to the control panel across the room. 

“paladins. shiro and i will be leaving for the covert mission in ten dobooshs.” allura glanced back to smile at shiro.  all at once everyone began asking her questions over the coms.  “we should probably head out soon before they all stop us and change your mind.”

now  he’s  done  it .  the  palpable  shift  in  the  kitchen  seems  to  shrink ,  closing  in  on  them  as  his  eyes  never  leave  her  face .  a  flicker  of  a  smile  extinguishes  before  ever  being  allowed  to  ignite  when  lotor’s  name  falls  from  keith’s  lips .

          ❝     not  at  all ,     ❞          he  manages ,  a  humorless  grin  tugging  on  the  corners  of  his  mouth  while  his  voice  remains  level .     (   for  now .   )     he  has  no  right  to  act  this  way .  he’d  left  on  his  own ,  his  sense  of  duty  to  the  team  being  shirked  upon  the  realization  of  his  true  nature .  but  he’d  left  her  in  the  process .          ❝     why  would  i  be  upset  about  seeing  you  prance  around  with  someone  who’s  been  intent  on  killing  us  in  the  past ?     ❞

she wasn’t expecting to get into a fight.  and here she was standing in the kitchen going toe to toe with keith.  her brow furrows as his reply cuts deep.  she didn’t think this was fair at all.  what is it to him? why is he so upset over lotor of all people. 

“why does it MATTER to you?” her words were as cold as her look.  it hadn’t crossed her mind that his feelings hadn’t dissipated like she assumed.  her arms crossed over her chest as she maintained the heavy eye contact.  she had done this dance with him before. DON’T GO.  she wanted to grab onto him and tell him to stay.  stay with the team.  stay with her.  but her anger continued to suppress her true feelings.  “last time i checked you left this team, that removes your vote on who I choose to spend my time with.  the galra can greatly help improve the coalition and lotor hasn’t given us any other reason to distrust him.”

missing  you ,  of  course .  it’d  be  so  easy  to  say  as  the  sentiments  linger  on  the  tip  of  his  tongue .  from  whence  his  strength  comes  in  combating  the  desire  to  divulge  all  he  is  thinking  is  unprecedented .  but  then  again ,  so  is  everything  in  relation  to  allura .

     she  is  the  savior  he  didn’t  see  coming .  the  angel  that  shone  in  the  night ,  guiding  him  through  his  own  misery ,  all  the  while  loving  him  in  ways  he  didn’t  deserve .   (   or  so  he  thought .   ) 

          ❝     GOOD .  busy’s  good .     ❞          he  manages  a  glance ,  indigo  eyes  wafting  o’er  flawless  features  as  he  feels  a  pang  of  guilt  fill  his  chest .          ❝     ———  i  hear  you  and  lotor  are  doing  good  work .     ❞

eye contact.  its the first time she had seen those EYES she had fallen in love with years ago.  the excitement in her chest didn’t last long.  his words cut like a knife.  lotor.  she didn’t even think that could be the reason why he was upset.  her stomach twisted into a knot as she scrambled to collect herself. 

putting the cup down on the counter, she curled her hand into a tight fist as a wave of anger wash over her.  why does SHE have to get this backlash.  he left her.  not the other way around.  she had taken a liking to lotor, but was doing her best to WAIT for him.  

“are you upset with me, keith?” her voice was quiet, trying to remain calm.  she didn’t know if keith was coming back AT ALL.  she had seen in person after he left for the blade and all she got was a COLD look.  “i don’t really see what I did wrong.”
