I am excited to announce that I now can offer organizing and tidying services for big jobs using my 3 person crew including myself as the director and supervisor.

My helpers are trained in my methods, friendly, and excited to come help organize and tidy with me. Now that I have 2 extra people available, I can offer hauling away things like bulky items and furniture in a rented van.

Just thought I would put this out there — I would like to expand my services and offer holistic organizing and tidying services to NYC residents who struggle with hoarding and work with a local therapist who specializes in treatment for hoarding.

If you are a therapist and would be interested in working with clients of mine I refer who struggle with hoarding and inform me on best practices for proceeding with my services for them to be effective, respectful, and affirming, I would be appreciative.

The other week I had the pleasure of organizing a closet for my hair stylist. She shares a one bedroom apartment with her partner and closet space for both of them is limited. I had to make it work for them both to have their own useable sections that can be easily accessed and managed.

We started with pulling everything out and doing my pile method — sorting between a yes-pile, no-pile, and maybe-pile. The maybe-pile of things that one can take their time thinking about is important for me to make. No need to rush into getting rid of useful or loved belongings if not needed. However, my rule of thumb for those who live in small NYC apartments is that if you haven’t used the item in 3-5 years or more then it’s time to let go of it (unless nostalgic of course).

My client decided that her maybe pile was perfect for reselling to consignment shops and online to make some extra money. They were nice clothes and accessories so flipping them to make cash helped her feel better about letting go. The organizing gig she hired me for will have paid for itself through this decision alone!

Last week I helped a very nice woman put her new apartment together after a move. We focused on the bedroom and living room which she was using as storage for her boxes. She didn’t organize before packing so it was up to me to bring order to the chaos. We got everything unpacked, sorted, put away and tidied in 3 hours. A very productive session to say the least. We also cleaned out her lingerie closet of everything she didn’t want anymore.

These lingerie pieces pictured above will be donated to local sex workers as a form of mutual aid. A perk of the job is being able to rehome items to those who need them more than the original owner at any given time. I take pride in diverting usable items from landfills and recycling as part of my organizing services.

This organizing project was for a friend and I took over her front closet and made it so much better! I started by pulling everything out and going through each item and placing them in sorting piles. My method is to use 3 piles which a yes pile, a maybe pile, and a definite no pile. This sorting method helps us decide which items will stay and which ones will be recycled, donated, or sent to the trash. The maybe pile is where it gets tricky -- in my opinion, if someone has not used something in years then it's time to let it go (unless sentimental of course). No need to keep stuff around one doesn't use in a tiny NYC apartment!
