God remember when u were 12 and you would just Make Art on like spare copy paper with crayola markers and an old pencil and even though you didn’t know anything about anatomy or perspective or anything you were jus happy to b Making Art and u didn’t constantly belittle your own efforts or feel like ur drawings weren’t good enough

1979-1990 Anime Primer Angel’s Egg (1985)
A young girl wanders a desolate world, collecting water in jars and caring for a mysterious egg. One day a man with bandaged palms carrying a weapon resembling a crucifix approaches her, asking her who she is. She doesn’t seem to know, or care; all that matters is her egg. The man has an interest in it as well, and he issues a grave warning: “Keep precious things inside you, or you will lose them…” Angel’s Egg is an art house movie, slow-moving and symbolically dense. Even by 80s anime industry standards, when studios were much more willing to take risks, Angel’s Egg was a gamble. One paid dearly for, in fact: it nearly cost director and screenwriter Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor) his career. That’s not because Angel’s Egg is a bad film. It’s excellent, but languid and demanding. It doesn’t hold hands, and it’s up to the viewer to decipher the dense religious imagery. If you aren’t in the mood for analyzing, there are still the gorgeously eerie character designs by Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy, Vampire Hunter D) and the haunting soundtrack to enjoy.
