THOROUGH DESCRIPTION OF THE AU
ā¢Tarrlok hated the bloodbending lessons his father had been giving him and Noatak. So one night, he tearfully confessed to Kiana (their mother) what was really happening on their āhunting tripsā and told her who Yakone really was. Noatak backed him up because he didnāt like bloodbending either, despite the fact that he came by it naturally. Everything he did was just to please his father.
ā¢Kiana was furious with Yakone. She wasnāt the confrontational type and typically shied away from conflict, especially with her husband. But the fact that heād lied to her about his identity and was teaching their sons how to bloodbend? That was too far. Kiana left Yakone and took Noatak and Tarrlok with her to the South Pole. There, theyād start a new life without him.
ā¢Noatak was 13 and Tarrlok was 10 when Kiana left with them.
ā¢The Southern Water Tribe took in Kiana, Noatak, and Tarrlok without hesitation. Not long after their arrival, Noatak and Tarrlok continued honing their waterbending skills with the guidance of Katara. They felt pressured and unsafe under Yakoneās tutelage, but with Katara, they were much more relaxed and secure. She was patient and didnāt berate them relentlessly if they made a mistake. Katara mostly worked with Tarrlok since he was a slightly slower learner.
ā¢Katara helped change Noatak and Tarrlokās views on waterbending. Before, theyād seen it as dangerous and cruel due to the things their father taught them. After they started training with Katara, though, they came to realize that even if people have the capacity to use waterbending for bad things, itās ultimately a beautiful and versatile skill that can be used for good.
ā¢Noatak had started becoming somewhat cold and detached due to carrying the burden of all of Yakoneās expectations and demands. However, after moving to the South Pole, he was able to regain the capacity to care for others and the world around him. The fact that he learned bloodbending didnāt corrupt him, but it did change his view of the world drastically. He realized how horrifyingly strong benders like himself could be and how much of a power imbalance there was between them and nonbenders. Noatak decided that heād fight against benders that used their abilities to take advantage of nonbenders. He immersed himself in politics, began working towards getting a spot on the United Republic Council, and moved to Republic City when he was 18.
ā¢Noatak was all about dealing with abusive benders in a legal way, but he had no qualms with bending the law to bring them down. In daytime, he was a passionate and friendly young man who wanted nothing but the best for innocent nonbenders. But by nighttime, he was a vilgilante that was hellbent on taking down corrupt benders and gangs. Much like the Blue Spirit, Noatak hid his identity behind a mask and was silent and precise as to not give himself away. Now, he hated bloodbending innocent animals...but cruel benders, using their abilities to prey on and extort nonbenders? He didnāt feel bad if he had to resort to bloodbending them.
ā¢Word of a man bringing benders to justice became the gossip in Republic City, though a mistype in the headline about him said āA Monā rather than āA Man.ā This caused articles and citizens to dub this masked vigilante as Amon: a beacon of hope to some and an masked menace to others. The police and the United Republic Council didnāt know how to feel about him. On one hand, they were grateful for the fact that he was delivering previously elusive gang members to them on a silver platter. On the other hand, they were concerned for the safety of innocent benders and werenāt thrilled about the fact that he allegedly used bloodbending. Little did they know, he was right under their noses, working as an intern for Councilman Tenzin.
ā¢Noatak eventually fulfills his dream of becoming a councilman and drops the mantle of Amon after ten long years. However, a group of vigilantes took it upon themselves to continue Amonās ālegacyā of bringing abusive benders to justice. The true identity of Amon remained unknown, and Noatak intended to keep it that way.
ā¢Tarrlok had always been a kindhearted and generous person that cared deeply for others. All he really wanted to do was to help those in need. So, when he discovered that healing abilities came to him naturally, he was excited because that was a way he could help others. Tarrlok made it a goal of his to become a master healer, which he did with the aid of Katara.
ā¢Though Tarrlok disliked bloodbending and never wanted to use it again, he ended up using it to invent a revolutionary waterbending method that would change the worldās views on bloodbending for years to come- bloodhealing. When a child came into the healing hut with a severely broken leg, Tarrlok proposed the idea of using bloodbending to set the bone and combining it with healing to help repair it. Needless to say, it worked well and the kidās leg healed quicker than if standard healing methods were used on it. Tarrlok was absolutely ecstatic about being able to use bloodbending for something good and began using it to treat other medical conditions such as dislocated joints, herniated disks, and even heart attacks. Bloodhealing could be a painful process, but it was highly beneficial to patients overall.
ā¢Tarrlokās invention of bloodhealing led to the legalization of bloodbending in medical practice. A select few healers that wanted to advance their healing abilities were taught bloodbending by Tarrlok so that they could use it at any time besides a full moon. He made all of his students take an oath to only use bloodbending to help patients and not to take advantage of others. Tarrlok never hesitated to turn away people who showed any signs of wanting to use bloodbending for nefarious reasons or people who became healers just for clout and glory.
ā¢Kiana finds out who Yakone is and what heās been teaching Noatak and Tarrlok, so she leaves him and takes their sons with her to the South Pole.
ā¢Noatak is a councilman on the United Republic Council and is a representative for the Southern Water Tribe. Formerly, he was a vigilante known as āAmonā that targeted gangs and benders that used their abilities to take advantage of innocent nonbenders.
ā¢Tarrlok is a master healer that invented a method known as bloodhealing, which combines healing and bloodbending to treat various medical conditions.
ā¢Kiana is proud of her sons and loves them dearly.
ā¢Noatak keeps the hairstyle he had from his childhood because why not?
ā¢Tarrlok acts as an uncle/big brother figure to Korra and is good friends with her parents.

As you can tell, I caved and formulated an entire alternate timeline where Noatak/Amon and Tarrlok have a happier life...whoops?
