The Bookshelf: Intro to Christie
Detective mysteries probably embody the best elements of the story.
You follow the hero/ine’s search for answers to the baffling premise. Cliffhangers keep you around for more. And gradually, you marvel with the other characters as the clues slowly piece together.
The detective mystery accommodates romance, oddity, and action—physical and intellectual. And it works for either gender—protagonist or reader.
Having gone through the exploits of Sherlock Holmes at least twice, I decided to dip next into Agatha Christie–dubbed the Queen of Crime.

Kaya congrats, Batch 2012!
I’ve seem to be hitting writer’s block far too often now. My grade in my creative writing class is suffering because i don’t turn in anything because i’m never really satisfied with anything i do. all my good ideas seem to turn into bad ones once i write it down. How do you get pass writers...
Perfect advise for this writer always held up by such.
OMG.
I never thought I’d find this online. Our professor, Sir Oscar Campomanes made us read it last year and believe, this is so worth your time! Specially if you are Filipino, because you’ll have a kind of history that is not usually shown in your text books.

What about this!
Di-sinasadyang komentaryo sa dalawang "malungkot" na balita ngayong linggo. Kinuha sa FB.
"Swept away briefly were the routine holiday coverage of terminals, shopping centers, and amusement spots.
The stage of primetime news that Christmas week went to the nearly-obliterated barangays, the brimming relief operations centers, and the cramped gyms where the anchors reported from."

Now, not only Muntinlupa is anti-plastic. They're already packing our groceries in paper bags and cardboard boxes here in Las Pinas City.
Since January 2, the city has begun implementing ordinance number 1036-11 banning plastic bags.
Mom usually brings her canvas bags to the supermarket every Wednesday. She didn't bring hers on this Thursday, only to find that everyday will be plastic-free.
One thing though--the paper bags are still no match for frozen goods, which we always buy in the groceries.Â
Overheard: "Watch out when inviting friends here. Bawal na kasi ang plastic."
Gloria Arroyo arrives at her detention suite in Veterans Hospital, Dec 9, with her trademark smile and wave.
The shot was secretly taken from a spot overlooking Arroyo's new quarters. It surreptitiously reached the ABS-CBN van stationed outside the hospital entrance, and finally landed top story on TV Patrol.
The source remains secret, the access invaluable. Only now, that view is already covered by blue tarp--much like the other side seen from outside the compound.
Just one of many scenes from following the former President from one hospital/cell to another.
Read here the other scenes from that coverage.
Look what I dug up!
Did this html page for my publication design & layout class back in college.
Of course it's basic compared to the real Bayan Mo iPatrol Mo site: http://bmpm.abs-cbnnews.com/
Remembrance: A year back at the massacre site
AMPATUAN, MAGUINDANAO–The morning heat stung on the faces of the throng trekking the leveled dirt road across this remote hill.
Many came by the truckloads from other towns and were likely dropped off at the dirt road’s entrance, a left turn from the national highway. There police officers filtered the vehicles that came in.
For every truck that passed through, dozens scrambled to hitchhike and save the long, hot, and arduous walk hundreds of others made.
The sight was unlikely in this area before. Few dared come here by themselves, a thing explained by the heavy security presence.Â

The neighborhood chapel’s choir just came round and we watched them Christmas carol us… and then like fireworks, the #seasonsbedding treat fired through my mind again! That’s why, in the spirit of this weirdly-weathered holiday season, I’m giving out four books for free! Here’s how:
Bed six books from the Bed-a-book album on the Facebook page and get either Stephen Chbosky’s Perks of Being A Wallflower or David Levithan’s Boy Meets Boy for free!
Tag bookbed on Facebook with #seasonsbedding, tweet @bookbedph with #seasonsbedding, or reblog this post and get a chance to receive a free gift (a book, of course!)! Multiple entries - and entries from all parts of the country - are allowed; just make/keep your accounts public so I can see them. This runs until Dec. 14. The receivers will be picked via random.org and will be announced/emailed/messaged on the 15th.
That’s it! Let all your bookish friends know so we can all have a merry #seasonsbedding!
Pangdagdag sa bucket list ng mga aklat (de-papel at de-txt) na hindi pa nababasa.
Long-overdue pat for the boys-and girls-that bring your Patrol ng Pilipino live saan man sa Pilipinas. Congrats ENG van / RDU team!
Hungry? This Cavite road leads to many branches, este, options. #broughttoyouby
