Hank doesn’t notice Wade’s strange behavior, and even if he had he wouldn’t have given it much thought. The other man confused him, and he couldn’t really get his antics in the first place. Instead he focuses on Illyana. Piotr says he doesn’t think she’s in need of care, but he couldn’t just not check. He still couldn’t even believe she was alive, her skin warm beneath his fingertips. The last time he’d seen her, she was a barely recognizable corpse. And for a second his heart leaps, because if Piotr and Illyana are back then… He shakes his head, and the hope of Bobby returning with it.
It’s all very heroic, what Piotr says about not regretting his sacrifice for the X-Men, but Hank can’t feel it right now. He can’t feel the weight behind his words, because even if Piotr was content with it that didn’t mean it hadn’t left a scar behind. No, not a scar, but a festering wound that drew in misery and more death. And everyone here felt it, had become infected.
“She seems fine, yeah,” he says, running a hand through is hair. “For now. I’ll monitor her though, and you can camp out here too. I’ll have to… Tell the Professor as soon as possible, if he hasn’t felt you already.”
With Bobby, he felt the disappearance immediately. When he felt them, he was confused at first. When new people, the doppelgängers of those from his time popped up, they were different. Only slightly, but they didn’t feel exactly the same. Piotr and Illyana were dead. Weren’t they? Charles made his way to the infirmary, but it felt like he was pushing his wheels through molasses. The door opened for him, and he wheeled his way in. “Piotr?” His face lit up with joy and hope, maybe for the first time in a long time. It dies almost as quickly as it came when his eyes move to his sister. “Is she alright?”
Piotr’s eyes move to the Professor and notices there has been a few changes in him. He looked pale and much thinner. He wasn’t around the first time Charles had to be pulled out of his drug habit, so he’s not aware that he was only looking at the aftermath of an addiction. If he knew better, Charles would be looking healthier than he had been only two months ago. “Professor, she will be okay. I had to follow her instructions…” and now he’s apologizing for coming back to life. “We just have to wait…” he looks over at Hank and sighs.
