Manu cradling Thomas' head since circa 2010 🥺 I love them so much

I swear it’s a time-honored tradition at this point 🥺

There’s just something about the way Manu cradles Thomas’ head too. Even though cradling his teammates’ heads to pull them in for a hug is kind of Manu’s modus operandi at this point, that simple touch takes on an entirely different meaning when it’s applied to Thomas. With Manu’s other teammates, it’s an almost paternal touch—the way a parent might dote on or reassure their child. With Thomas, there’s a reverence to it; he touches Thomas like he’s the most precious title he’s ever won. He’s so gentle with him that it’s hard not to sink into the sweetness of moments like the ones you see above. There’s a tenderness to them too—one reserved for someone you deeply, devotedly, unconditionally love and admire. Someone who, in Manu’s own words, is more than a teammate. Someone who, now, is more than a decade partner too.

I love the way Thomas reacts to Manu cradling his head too. I love how he leans into the touch every single time. He’s so trusting of Manu, and it’s a trust that’s almost instinctual now—one that’s been earned through years of doing battle side-by-side for both club and country, holding each other tight and steadying one another through it all. Thomas knows that with Manu, he will always be safe and loved. It kinda takes my breath away—not just the gentleness with which Manu treats Thomas, but also the way Thomas returns every bit of that tenderness and warmth to Manu—and it’s one of the things about their interactions I’m going to miss most 💔
