ᴀᴜᴛʜᴏʀꜱ ɴᴏᴛᴇ: Certain pictures surfaced of the cast filming season two and it seems like it starts off right where it ended. This is just a thought of what might happen.
Seething he is actually seething after everything that just went down. Anger vibrates through every inch of him, hot and electric, as he storms away from Malone’s. His jaw clenches so tightly it aches, and the betrayal burns like acid in his chest. Allie. After everything after he laid his heart bare, after the nights spent tangled up in each other, after he let himself believe they could be something real she went and completed that ridiculous assignment by sleeping with Hunter fucking Davenport.
The guy who treated his little sister, Summer like garbage. Who wrecked her. Fists ball at his sides, nails digging deep into the flesh of his palms. The sharp bite of pain barely registers against the roar in his head. He doesn’t know where he’s going. He just knows he can’t be inside that bar right now, breathing the same air as that smug prick. The door bangs open behind him, footsteps pounding the pavement, running towards him.
“Dean, wait up!” Logan’s voice cuts through the night. “What happened in there, man?”
He whips around, fire blazing in his eyes. Beneath the fury lies the raw sting of betrayal. Logan, his friend, his bro, teammate now turned temporary Captain had gone directly against him.
“You had no right to do that,” he snarls, voice low and venomous “because if memory serves, I told you Davenport was not an option.”
Logan stops a few feet away, expression tight. “I know you did. But I was acting as team captain. I did what was best for the team. For us.”
“Man, don’t serve me that bullshit” he laughs, “you were doing what was best for you. Contrary to what people believe, I’m not stupid. I pay attention. I listen. And I’m always hearing you go on about how Graham isn’t the only one who has a lot riding on this. That you do too. And yeah, I get it. But sometimes it’s not just about hockey. There are more important things than hitting a puck with a stick.”
Logan’s jaw tightens. “Yeah, that’s pretty easy to say for the guy who grew up in Greenwich and has his parents living in a penthouse in New York. Some of us don’t have that luxury.”
That comment draws his lips to curl “well, luxury sometimes isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Some people abuse that power.”
The words hang between them, heavy and unresolved. He turns to keep walking, sneakers scuffing against the pavement, but the argument has already drawn attention. Voices and footsteps spill out from Malone’s behind them, Tucker, Graham, Hannah, and Allie rushing toward the commotion. He can feel Allie’s shocked gaze on him, but he refuses to meet it. He can’t. Not right now. The sight of her would only twist the knife deeper.
He rounds on Logan again, voice rising. “Going behind my back? That’s messed up. But what really is fucked up is you told that prick it was my idea to bring him in. You made it sound like I needed his help. The second he heard that, it stroked his ego because he believed a Di Laurentis wanted him here. I want nothing to do with him.”
Growling the last part, teeth sinking into his lower lip hard enough to draw blood. The metallic tang fills his mouth. He jabs a furious finger toward the bar, knowing Hunter is still inside, probably smirking over the performance that’s taking place .
“Let me tell you something, that guy is not a saint. He’s the fucking devil.”
Gaze cuts sharply to Allie then. She stands among the group, silent, watching him with wide eyes. For a moment their stares lock, and he lets her see everything the rage, the hurt, the warning.
“You have no idea what he is capable of.”
Shifting his gaze away from Allie and back to Logan.
“And you just invited it in.”
Before anyone else can get a word in Beau steps outside.
“So, I don’t want to disrupt this but they’re starting to get noise complaints.”
Which means the police might be dispatched soon. Bad enough that Jules had gone live and people had seen, but he definitely can’t afford to deal with the cops. Not with how riled up he is. Throwing his hands up in defeat.
“It’s fine. I’m leaving anyway.”
“Dean, come on man.”
Mustering up something civil he releases a heavy sigh.
“I know you didn’t have ulterior motives. That you bringing Davenport in wasn’t malicious, and it doesn’t help that you don’t know the complicated history him and I share, but I can’t be here right now. I need to clear my head and cool off. You guys go back inside and enjoy the night before I went and fucked it all up.”
Expression softening for a fraction when he turns his attention towards Hannah.
“I’m sorry Wellsy, I didn’t mean to bring the mood down. What you did at the showcase was incredible and it should be celebrated.”
Flexing his fingers because he really would like to punch something again. His eyes take in each of his teammates seeing how they seem unsure to let him go.
“I’ll see you guys back at the house later”
Eventually he watches as they all file back inside, somewhat surprised when he sees that Allie is hanging back. Both of them staring at one another. Even from where he’s standing he can see the worry that mirrors in her eyes.
“Dean.”
But she doesn’t get to finish because he cuts her off.
“You should go back inside, if you stay out here any longer people might talk and think there’s something between us and you wouldn’t want that.”
The words taste bitter on his tongue. He holds her gaze for one more painful beat, letting the anger and the hurt bleed through, then turns on his heel and stalks off into the night.
