Two years ago, a group of 12 Filipino bloggers met up in Luneta without any idea of what they were doing. They were given a partner through lottery, tied themselves in pink laces, roamed around Manila and asked for one peso from the people wearing the color that they picked, and kept on repeating to everyone they approached that they would be feeding the street children in Liwasang Bonifacio after that fund-raising activity.
Two years ago, those 12 bloggers started a mission: to be able to help the street children of Manila by providing them a little plastic bag with snacks inside; and to experience what those street children experience everyday—to ask for money just to have food.
It has been two years since those 12 bloggers had PPKT: Unang Ratsada. And counting up to date, those 12 people who wanted experience have found a bigger family, sharing one goal—to reach out and share to people.
And now, after seven successful events, PPKT will be having a two-part fund-raising activity, to be able to help the Handicapped Center Lourdes in Pandacan on 29 November.
PPKT will be having its traditional limos activity in Manila on 22 November at 8:00 in the morning. Everyone will be paired and will roam around Manila to ask for one peso coins and experience what the people in the streets experience everyday. We are asking the support of those who can, to go to Luneta Park around lunchtime to give whatever you can to the volunteers of this activity. Your “piso” will be so much appreciated. We mean it.
And on the same day, 22 November, at 4:00 in the afternoon, PPKT will have its first open-mic event for artists, artists in the making, and self-proclaimed artists which will be called The Hugot Night.
We are inviting everyone to join us in this fun event at Sev’s Cafe in Vito Cruz, Manila, and share what you have to share, or let others own the stage and enjoy everyone’s company while helping to raise funds for this PPKT’s beneficiary, the Handicap Center Lourders. We will be selling tickets for P99, which already comes with a free drink and unlimited happiness. We will also be having an auction of donated books and artworks starting at P100.
And on 29 November, PPKT will be going to the Handicapped Center Lourdes in Pandacan to share time, share the proceeds from the fund-raising activities (22 November), help feed the persons with disabilities living in that haven, and give some gifts as an early Christmas treat. Plans and guidelines are to be posted in PPKT’s FB Group and updates on our 22 and 29 November events on our LIKE page, http://www.facebook.com/pisoparakaytoto and blog, http://pisoparakaytoto.tumblr.com in the next days.
We are inviting participants for the traditional limos, morning of 22 November, performers for the “The Hugot Night”, and volunteers for the visit to Handicapped Center Lourdes on 29 November.
We would also like to ask if you have some old toys to share for the kids in Handicapped Center Lourdes and books that you can donate and will be sold during the “The Hugot Night”.
We are always open for your questions. You may reach Arkin Sanchez at 0915 413 3318, Ran Umbao at 0926 804 5540, or Wilson Esguerra at 0906 955 7118.
We hope for your prayers and support for making this PPKT event, again, successful.
