Amar es abrazar el caos de alguien.
Life and Death by Edvard Munch
That little half smile Lapis has during the end of her song in Can’t Go Back as she stares at Peridot and the CG’s walk away really gets to me. Because you can tell she really wants that life with them. But she just keeps letting fear of what could happen get in the way of her happiness. And it’s not her fault; she has understandable reasons to distance herself from danger. But another thing is, she’s afraid she’s not good enough because of how she left Peridot (and other mistakes she’s made in the past). I’m just really hoping it goes okay for her in the end, because you can tell just by looking at her face in that song that she really wants to move past everything and let herself be truly free along with everyone else. She just doesn’t think she’s strong enough to do it. But I think, seeing how Steven or Peridot couldn’t exactly make her stay, once she truly breaks free from the past, it’s going to be HER determined decision; not anyone else’s. That inner strength, hidden away for thousands of years of imprisonment, is still in there somewhere, and it’s what Lapis needs to realize in herself and for herself to reach the freedom she’s been longing for.

I’m re-submitting this illustration because I touched it up a lot/redrew Peridot and it’s relevant to what’s happening in the show right now, somewhat
based on that one scene from mother 3
