Setting up Unity animators to handle multi-directional movement
In order to help another person on reddit I am typing up a somewhat detailed explanation on how I handled input and the animation state machine for my characters when I do work. This is the general approach I take to making overhead or RPG type games because of the various directions the player can face and trying to create a clean animator that can handle it.

Finalized changes to my editor to make it a lot cleaner. This editor handles a lot of the aspects of room generation automatically. Spawning important elements when creating new rooms and replacing assets prefabs of one type for another when using a room to template to create rooms for different areas.
Cleaned up my editor script a lot today to make it look a lot nicer.
