This is the last time I'll ever write about you

I’m finally clean of you I think. When I check the horoscopes your sign isn’t the first one I go to anymore, sometimes I don’t check yours at all. When I see the ocean waves crashing against the shore and leaving in a cycle, I don’t think about how you would always find me and leave me. When I think of the blue sky I dream about flying and traveling not your eyes that made me lose my breath every time I looked up or the color that I soon learned to hate. You were at one point my world and I’m comfortable now saying that I was so utterly in love with you. But you broke me and I’m still putting some pieces back together. For so long I couldn’t stop thinking about everything we were, everything we could’ve been, and everything we are not. Those days are gone and once you left I spent way too many days on that bathroom floor drinking bottle after bottle to fill the emptiness that radiated throughout my whole body. I no longer wish to know how you felt about me or if anything was real. I hear our songs and I remember how you told me that every time you heard them that you’d always think of me. That rings true but I don’t miss you or hastily turn off the radio anymore. You no longer ruin my favorite things. I don’t check my phone for hopes that your name would be the one to show. Sharing my life with you felt like a race to the finish line and that was what kept us going. I shared my life, and you kept yours inside. With her, it’s the best of both worlds and it made me realize that you were so busy holding your secrets in your hands that you had no room for mine. I’ll be honest, I still get those moments where I want to know, is there a new girl, are you okay, do you think of me when your day goes slow. Are you doing well in school and do you still ball? Did you find a way to finally be happy? But those moments are few and far behind, girl you barely cross my mind.

Thanks for reminding me what I deserve, who I am, and that I do not need someone to complete me, simply to remind me that I’m whole. You were the what was, she is the what is and the what will be. I hope you remember everything I taught you and I wish you the best in life.
