"Resounding geomungo, praiseworthy lotus" by Sin Yun-bok, Korean painter of the Joseon dynasty period. This painting is part of the Hyewon pungsokdo, an album of the genre paintings.
The painting depicts two couples of men and women listing to a Kisaeng (a Korean courtesan of the Goryeo and Joseon period) playing the geomungo.
The geomungo is a traditional Korean plucked zither with both bridges and frets. Geomungo is a representative stringed instrument made in Goguryeo before the 5th century.

"A boat party on the clean river" (Korean title: 주유청강 Romanization: Ju Yu Cheong Kang) by Sin Yun-bok, also known as Hyewon, Korean painter of the Joseon Dynasty period. This painting is part of the Hyewon pungsokdo, an album of the genre paintings.
In this painting Hyewon depicted a gisaeng playing a saenghwang (far right), a traditional korean wind instrument.
Kisaeng, also called ginyeo, were women from outcast or slave families who were trained to be courtesans, providing artistic entertainment and conversation to men of upper class. First appearing in Goryeo, kisaeng were the government's legal entertainers, required to perform various functions for the state. [Wikipedia]

"Una festa in barca sul fiume pulito" (Titolo Coreano: 주유청강 Romanizzazione: Ju Yu Cheong Kang) di Sin Yun-Bok (conosciuto anche come Hyewon), pittore coreano del periodo Joseon. Questo dipinto è parte dell'Hyewon pungsokdo, un album di disegni appartenenti alla pittura di genere.
In questo dipinto, Hyewon rappresenta una kisaeng che suona il saenghwang (a destra nel quadro), uno strumento a fiato tradizionale coreano.
Le Kisaeng, dette anche ginyeo, erano donne che provenivano da famiglie emarginate e di schiavi che venivano addestrate a diventare delle cortigiane con il fine di intrattenere con danze, balli e conversazioni gli uomini delle classi più alte della società coreana dell'epoca.

Bakemono zukushi means "Illustrated Index of Supernatural Creatures".
Each bakemono is labeled with its name in hand-brushed ink.
