How to combat nationalism
Apparently someone decided to go into a bunch of people’s ask boxes and accuse them of being nationalists. If you’re interested in helping fight the nationalist presence in hellenism/dodekatheism then that’s not the way to do it. I’ve been involved in anti-nationalist efforts since late 2006. Here’s some things I’ve learned and how we, as a community, need to fight against nationalists.
First, vocally, loudly, and consistently make it clear that nationalists are not welcome in your space or your community. This tells others that you and your blog are safe. It also tells nationalists that they’re going to have a harder time getting their voices heard because we are aware of them and are fighting against them.
Two, learn to recognize nationalist arguments and how to fight against those. The earliest and most insidious methods they use are attempts to divide communities. They try to “other” people you may previously have related to.
Three, if you’re aware of a nationalist in the community, speak out. Do NOT throw around accusations without support though. Spreading countless accusations muddied the waters, making it easier for actual nationalists to hide. It lessens the perceived severity of actual nationalists by turning the word into an exaggeration, think the boy who cried wolf. It also can be used by nationalists to divide the community, because they KNOW that people recognize what they’re doing as wrong and they may spread rumors about non-nationalists in order to isolate them from the community and cause division. Supporting evidence is an important part of this step, so that we’re not doing their work for them.
Four, spread factual information to counter their ideology.
Five, be welcoming and supportive of those most at risk to be targeted by nationalists.
Six, continue your efforts. This isn’t a one post and done kind of thing. Nationalists aren’t going to stop just because we reblogged one post that said “nazis not allowed” we need to continue to include activism in our communities in order to keep nationalists from having a voice.
An equal and tolerate society requires a no tolerance policy towards hate.
Btw, don’t just like this. Please reblog it. Spread this like wildfire. Show them they are not welcome, that we recognize their tactics, and we are vigilant.
So I dunno how many people know this but if you go to burgerking and order anything at all off the menu, even just a drink, you get two little surveys on the back of the receipt
Each survey can get you a free whopper burger or a chicken sandwich with the purchase of any drink (even the $1 drink)
Just fill out the survey and get the code and write it on the back.
If you are short on money and really need a substantial meal, you can keep doing this cycle of getting receipts and free sandwiches for as long as you like
Idk I thought this might help people who are hard up for cash. This works in the US.
reblog 2 save a hungry tummy maybe?
these surveys actually saved me as a child growing up with a neglectful, mentally ill mother. shout out 2 every hood burger king
iirc, McDonald’s does the same but on the front of the receipts at the top. Good for an Egg McMuffin or a QPC, I think. And I’m p sure that would be with any purchase, even a fifty cent go-gurt (well, fifty cents at my location. Not sure if that’s one of those corporate-controlled prices or not)
Subway does this and you get a free cookie if you do the survey. And if you eat at Subway even like once a month, make sure you get a rewards card if you haven’t gotten one already because it’s easy to get points on that to get free food (I think they also give you a certain number of points for signing up). I also know Dairy Queen’s survey gets you a free ice cream bar and Pizza Hut, IIRC, gives you some kind of discount (I believe it’s like $10 off your order of $20 or more or something like that).

Since day one, the Trump-Pence administration has attacked our health, our rights, and our freedom.
Help us shift power at the ballot box in 2018.
TAKE THE PLEDGE NOW #TakeItBack
2018 promises to be a historic year in the United States, and women are demanding to be heard. There are twice as many women running for congress in the 2018 midterm elections than there were in 2016. They (we!) are making their (our!) intentions clear: Women’s rights are human rights, and women will not be left out of the deciding conversations.
Which leads us to Women’s History Month.
All month long, we’re partnering with MAKERS (@makerswomen), a feminist platform that highlights trailblazing women who are making changes today, and inspiring the ChangeMAKERS of tomorrow. For the next 31 days, MAKERS will put the spotlight on dozens of women who are making a difference. Each week will have a specific focus: HistoryMAKERS, TechMAKERS, TroubleMAKERS, and ChangeMAKERS. Be sure to follow them so you never miss a post.
Monday, March 19—We’re celebrating a Badass Black Women History Month takeover (@bbwhm). Founder Ashley Ray-Harris will curate a celebration of 28 incredible Black women who said, “Fuck it, I’ll do it!”
Monday, March 26—Magic in her Melanin will be a community-driven organization that focuses on elevating the stories of women of color, as well as bridging the gap between creatives of color and the tech industry. It’s going to be launching right on Tumblr. There will be a whole takeover dedicated to their launch, paired with an opportunity for you to submit your art to be featured on their Tumblr.
Wednesday, March 21—Everytown for Gun Safety (@everytown) operates under the very real notion that thoughts and prayers are not enough when it comes to gun violence. Change demands real action, and their goal is to make that happen. Chances are you’ve heard of them already. Now it’s time to connect with them directly. Their ask box will be open for questions before their Answer Time.
Wednesday, March 28—Run for Something recruits and supports young progressives running for local office, and they want to answer any question you have during their Answer Time. It’s to be held over on our official Action (@action) Tumblr.
Friday, March 30—Transgender activist Malaysia Walker will be graciously answering your questions during her Answer Time, hosted on the Transgender Freedom Project (@transgenderfreedomproject) Tumblr.
We’ll also be honoring various incredibly important days throughout the month, such as International Women’s Day (March 8), the March for Our Lives (March 24), Muslim Women’s Day (March 27), and the Trans Day of Visibility (March 31).
As we celebrate and honor the celebrities and activists who are striving to make things better for all of us, it’s important to remember you don’t have to start organizations or lead an entire movement just to make a change. It can be small. So we want to ask you, what do you want the headlines and history books to say about the women’s movement in 2018? #WhatWillYouDo to ensure that all women’s voices are heard in 2018?
let’s be real here: TERFs don’t get any shit IRL. they don’t get harassed for their caustic views. they don’t have to deal with any harassment based on the fact that they hate trans women and don’t believe that we are real women. this isn’t exactly a radical view at all; it’s reactionary, it’s the status quo. we already know that most people aren’t going to view us as real women unless we somehow manage to perform normative femininity to the point where we “pass” as cis women, and even then we are constantly having to prove ourselves. terfs aren’t radicals. they aren’t presenting some major, controversial dissenting opinions. they can be pretty open about their views because… who’s going to stop them? who’s going to speak up about it?
the answer is pretty much just “trans women” and we are already a small enough minority that, when it comes to IRL shit, this will basically never happen. we are pretty vocal on a few websites, such as tumblr, but that’s about it when it comes to our social capital. we have no way of violently suppressing terf views IRL like they can do to us. they can shut us out of female spaces, shut us out of lesbian spaces, completely emotionally blackball us when it comes to any interaction whatsoever. we don’t have that kind of power. trans women have no power in queer spaces IRL. it might feel like we kind of dominate the queer discourse when you log onto tumblr, but i absolutely guarantee you that that is absolutely not the case. not on the blue website, and not IRL.
so when terfs drag out the boogeyman of “TRANS WOMEN ARE TRYING TO FORCE THEIR WAY INTO FEMALE SPACES AND VIOLENTLY SILENCE GENDER CRITICAL WOMYN” i just have to ask… where? how? when did we get the ability to do that? you guys aren’t rebels, you aren’t radicals. you’re upholding the status quo, you’re holding the Normal, Average view. we literally are just trying to survive and terfs are doing their best to keep us away from queer community resources.
THAT is violence. THAT is silencing.
After almost a week of work, my imagined (or better said, channelled!) portrait of King Solomon is finished. Watercolour on Canson paper, 27 x 41 cms / 10,6 x 16,5 inches. So happy with this one :).
Happy Sunday <3!

I hope you live without the need to dominate, and without the need to be dominated. I hope you are never victims, but I hope you have no power over other people. And when you fail, and are defeated, and in pain, and in the dark, then I hope you will remember that darkness is your country, where you live, where no wars are fought and no wars are won, but where the future is. Our roots are in the dark; the earth is our country. Why did we look up for blessing — instead of around, and down? What hope we have lies there. Not in the sky full of orbiting spy-eyes and weaponry, but in the earth we have looked down upon. Not from above, but from below. Not in the light that blinds, but in the dark that nourishes, where human beings grow human souls.
Ursula K. Le Guin, “A Left-Handed Commencement Address” (Mills College, 1983)
this passage planted itself in my consciousness when i was 24, and 10 years later, it informs so much of my approach to living, thinking, creating.

I know I don’t usually reblog things here but please more people look at this amazing thing.

yo if youre a cis woman who considers yourself an ally to trans women please take a second to read this
stop engaging with terfs, its not helping. it has never helped. stop reblogging terf posts to poke fun at them, stop directly engaging in arguments with terfs for the sake of getting off some petty insult or telling them off, youre not proving anything and youre not going to change their minds. doing something to “piss off terfs” does not help trans women, it just frustrates terfs, who will then take their frustrations out on trans women. terfs might tell u off or insult u but ultimately they see u as a poor victim who has been Brainwashed By The Trans Rights Activists™, youre not a target, youre not the one who has to deal with their anger, we are.
if u want to help trans women do things to uplift and support trans women, if u see a trans women is being harassed on this site by terfs throw some positivity her way. dont rile up ppl who are attacking someone else just to earn radical discourse brownie points.
Anti-terf activities that can actually be helpful for cis allies to engage in:
If someone makes a post about “please don’t reblog from (popular artist) cause they’re a terf,” feel free to reblog it! Help spread information about who terfs are.
If a trans woman makes a post detailing why terf arguments are absurd nonsense, feel free to reblog it! Help spread information about why terf ideas are bullshit.
If you see a post like that, or a general positivity post for trans women, and there’s some terf being hateful on it, just reblog from OP! Even if someone further down in the thread “totally destroyed” the terf’s argument! Don’t give terfs a platform on your blog.
If you see a post from a lesbian feminist blog you don’t recognize, give it a quick look before you reblog! This goes doubly true if the post talks about people in terms of “males” and “females” or the person has words like “radical”/”rad” or “female” in their url or blog title. Put in the effort to not reblog from terfs so trans women don’t have to do it for you!
If someone close to you turns out to be a terf, cut them off and tell them why. Don’t think you can be an ally to us and still be friends with the people who want us dead.
But like the OP said, making a big show about arguing with terfs and mocking them doesn’t actually help us at all. I know it’s easier and flashier to fight a big evil enemy, but it’s better and more important to help the trans women who’re being hurt by them and by the world we live in.
Love and support trans women before you worry about fighting terfs.
