My favorite genre of Teto songs are the ones where she is pathetic and a downright loser. Hymn to the Decadent Life, Minimum Rage, Headache, you get the gist. Anyways I discovered this song called 33 on accident and this is basically my anthem for Teto now (link under cut)
Obviously PJSK logic isn't completely, for lack of a better word, logical, but do y'all think people outside of Japan can get sekais? And, if so, do the vocaloids depend on the language they speak? Like would a Spanish sekai have Maika or would they just stick with the Cryptonloids? Also, would Miku even be able to speak Spanish since she doesn't have a Spanish vb? Like yeah, you get a sekai, but Miku speaks exclusively Japanese, sorry theres no translator
"The new cards look so bland!" "The untrained is so empty!" have we lost all semblance of joy and whimsy? Is seeing a well-rendered drawing of your favorite characters not happiness-inducing enough? Truly pitiful times we live in where people cannot appreciate the beauty in simplicity
Stoutland: Let me preface this by saying Minori was one of my favorites to make a team for so her entry is gonna be long. That out of the way, I wanted Minori to have a Samo stand-in, but there aren’t really many Samoyed-esque Pokémon. Granted, there’s Furfrou, but I feel like it just felt too snobby to be Samo. I’m incredibly biased to Stoutland since I used to always catch a Lillipup in Black 2, my first Pokémon game, and name it after my childhood dog. So even if the dex entry states that Stoutland is all nonchalant, I just associate it so much with that lovey family dog energy that I had to pick it for Minori.
Togekiss: I know Minori is meant to have terrible luck and Togepi is a rare find, but come on, she just so happened to be at the same school as 3 famous idols. Plus, the mention of it coming and bringing blessings to others who earn them in the Pokédex entry reminds me of the main story and how Minori brought the rest of MMJ together.
Oshawott: She needed an otter, and Oshawott fits the bill (technically Buizel is also similar, but it’s a wease. Trust me, I wanted to give her a Buizel).
Spinda: I feel like the clumsiness and just silly appearance of Spinda matches Minori super well. Also, Spinda has an infinite amount of patterns, but otherwise they’re all the same. This is definitely a stretch but it reminds me how Minori was seen as plain or unfit to be an idol because she fit in with the crowd, when in reality she was unique in her own way.
Alcremie: Like with Leo/Need and their matching Miniors, I chose a very versatile Pokémon for More More Jump to all share. They all get the clover variants, of course. I don’t have matching mons for all groups but I felt like Leo/Need and MMJ in particular were perfect for them.
Eevee: And, on a similar note, I gave all of MMJ eeveelutions. I feel like they just suit idols, being such popular Pokémon. Minori gets the standard Eevee because, like I mentioned with Spinda, she’s seen as plain but in actuality she has infinite possibilities and her having an unevolved partner means they get to grow and discover themselves together!
Piplup: I imagine this’d be her ace because of all the penguin-inspired Pokémon, Piplup just feels the most suitable for an idol. That and it’s small and cute.
Vaporeon: Like I mentioned with Minori, I wanted all of MMJ to have eeveelutions, so I gave Haruka a Vaporeon because it’s blue and it’s from gen 1, like Eevee. I thought it’d be cute if Shizuku and Airi both had gen 4 Eeveelutions and Minori and Haruka has gen 1 Eeveelutions, kind of showing off the bonds between the two pairs in the main story.
Marill: Another one that just felt very idolish and cutesy, good for marketing and branding for a popular idol like Haruka. I imagine she’d be pressured to keep it unevolved by her former agency because it’s cuter that way, but after splitting off and going freelance she’d evolve it.
Eiscue: Yes, I did give her all of the penguin Pokémon. I was just going to give her Piplup but then I realized that there’s no way Haruka would be satisfied with just one penguin. She needs all of them.
Delibird: Another contribution to Haruka’s penguin stash.
Alcremie: To match with the rest of MMJ, of course.
Glameow: I know Airi is allergic to cats and there’s probably a hypoallergenic cat Pokémon out there that I was too lazy to seek out, but whatever. She deserves a kitty. Plus, Glameow being fickle and acting all spoiled is super cute, I feel like Airi would love to spoil Glameow and feed into its little ego.
Cherubi: Closest we have to a peach Pokémon aside from Pecharunt, but its whole plot of feeding people mind-controlling mochi isn’t really fitting for an idol. So, Cherubi ended up being the next best option.
Jumpluff: More Jump More reference. Someone in MMJ needed to have one because it has jump in its name, and Airi ended up being the lucky winner.
Leafeon: Like I mentioned in Haruka’s entry, MMJ all have Eeveelutions but they’re separated into pairs. Airi has a Leafeon to match with Shizuku’s Glaceon. I was struggling with deciding which Eeveelution to give her since Sylveon was already on Mizuki’s team and I didn’t want any repeats, and I did consider Flareon, but it felt strange for everyone to have a gen 1 entry and for Shizuku to be all on her lonesome with a gen 4 one. Plus, I think they look cute together.
Tinkaton: I know some people will say Tinkaton deserves to be an Emu Pokémon because of the Close Game Offline card set, but I feel like in terms of vibe it just suits Airi more. I think she’d just adore the heck out of a cute little gal with a comedically large hammer. Two pink girls who will go after you if you mess with Shizuku type deal.
Milotic: Technically, Milotic’s entire spiel with being an ugly duckling of sorts doesn’t really fit Shizuku, who is conventionally attractive and didn’t have to go through being seen as unworthy of being an idol because of her appearance/aesthetic. However, I feel like the majority of her team would have an elegant look to them to fit in with Shizuku’s idol character.
Suicune: I didn’t want to give the characters a ton of legendaries and mythical Pokémon because that’s boring, BUT I just find the idea of Shizuku finding Suicune on a walk and taking it home then talking to Airi the next day being like “Hey so I found this dog outside, it seemed strangely comfortable with people around it so I think it’s someone’s Pokémon. Wanna help me find its owner?” only for her to open the door and reveal Sui fucking cune just chilling in her house having the time of its life so funny.
Loudred: Who could have expected this? He’s a loud, obnoxious dude. I remember Robonene mentioning that he yells as loud as a helicopter once (I want to say it was the Island Panic event, that or they mistook the helicopter for Tsukasa screaming. Either way, it emphasizes how loud he is, lol).
Solrock: What, did you expect a Starmie? A Staryu, even? Tsukasa wouldn’t settle for just a mere star, he’d have the entire sun.
Starmie: I know this sounds like a Tsukasa pick but hear me out. It’s said to be super colorful, which is just something that is so Emu-coded, and it’s thought to come from outer space? Like Opera! Space Opera!? I just know a Starmie would make for some great shows alongside Emu with how eccentric the two of them would be together. Plus, if you like EmuNene, it has the sea connection.
Sunflora: I considered giving this guy to An because haha Machi reference but I feel like its dex entries were way more Emu-coded. Happy-go-lucky flower that rushes around in a hectic manner for no apparent reason? Always looking towards the sun, being endlessly positive? It embodies Emu’s joyous nature so well.
Swoobat: Okay, I’ve got a joke explanation and a genuine explanation. First off, its Y entry states that the cries of male Swoobat can cause a positive mood change in those who hear it, and that just reminds me so much of how easily Emu is able to spread positivity to the cast and her schoolmates with a quick wonderhoy. As for the more goofy explanation, I have heard so many complaints about Emu having a squeaky or overpowering voice, so I am giving her a companion that is also capable of ear-piercing screeches out of spite.
Primarina: Mermaid diva who enjoys singing? That’s just Nene. I also feel like she’d have a shiny Primarina because for one, the yellow is a little closer to matching her green hair is you squint really hard, and also Nene would absolutely be a tryhard shiny hunter. She is a certified gamer, after all.
Minun: To match with Emu’s Plusle, of course. Much like how I gave Emu Plusle because of her positive demeanor, Nene was assigned Minun for being generally more low-energy, and I feel like the cooler color just suits her better.
Porygon2: I just know Rui would eat up an entirely man-made Pokémon like the Porygon line, and I chose Porygon2 solely because it is more technologically advanced and would likely pique his interest more than its earliest rendition.
Elgyem: First off, another robot for Rui because building robots is literally his thing. Second, its dex entries mention it having been discovered at a UFO crash site, which not only makes my brain immediately think of WxS because of the Emu5 reference but also just how Elgyem is an alien and Rui was alienated by his classmates because they didn’t understand him. Was this one too cruel?
Rotom (washing machine form): Let’s get the obvious out of the way. Yes, this is a high pressure washing machine reference. That’s not the only reason I have him Rotom, though, since with all the newer games really emphasizing how Rotom goes hand in hand with technology and is a bit of a prankster reminds me so much of Rui (and how he loves tormenting Tsukasa). I feel like Rotom and Rui have matching devious grins.
Psyduck: It has peculiar powers that Rui would most definitely want to uncover, but also it’s the closest we have to a platypus.
Meowscarada: I have seen so many people give Rui a Meowscarada and even though I initially didn’t really get it, I feel like I’ve warmed up to the idea. They’re both performers, they both have the resting smug face, and I feel like they just have a lot of physical similarities. Rui’s resting :3 cat mouth is a perfect match with Meowscarada’s.
Blacephalon: Not really a Pokémon, but look. It’s a wacky clownish creature that blows things (namely itself) up. They’d make a great (or, depending on how you see it terrible) duo.
