I've decided to start collecting my thoughts again

My my my, how I've grown since I first started this tumblr....I will start using this again for non-art, non-dance, non-photo purposes.  I need to start writing again, regardless if people will read this or not.

have a child

swim with a manta ray

pet a grey whale

go pearl diving and make my mom earings

move somewhere not in the US for at least 3 months…maybe teach english

have a book published

I'VE DECIDED TO START DOING FREE SHARK TOURS.  i'm writing this because not everything will fit in a single tweet.

WHY?  to share the experience, and hopefully convince people they are not to be feared.  not only that, but i noticed that some "group deal" sites have been charging people $30+ to do this...i also don't want people getting ripped off.

WHERE?  la jolla shores

COST? technically free.  you either need to rent or buy your own snorkel gear.  if you plan on going more than once, you might as well buy it....because its only $5-10 more than renting.  you can buy gear at any sporting good store for $20-30.[with snorkel, mask, and fins] or you can rent from: http://www.sandiegobikeandkayaktours.com/beach_rentals.html http://www.lajollakayak.com/rentals#13 again...its a lot cheaper just to buy your own gear, especially if you plan to go more than once.  :]

WHEN? whenever i feel like it haha.  i go there often, so chances are you'll run into me.  but i'll usually announce it on my twitter account.

my approach to art

you know....i've pursued ALOT of arts, and got really good at most of them.[except tap-dance haha]  but i kinda wanna share 3 concepts that are very important to me, that i apply to everything i pursue.  its for everything, and not just art.

1.  ORIGINALITY

to me, art is creation.  its okay to re-create other peoples' works as long as it is still recognizable as your own.  ...but in the grand scheme of things, if there are a lot of different versions of the same thing, you still need something to stand out.

2.  STORYTELLING

a pretty picture is a pretty picture.  but sometimes, thats all it is.  something that'll make people connect to the picture is the story it tells.  theres a lot of content in the subtext.  it's just like dating somebody that is extremely attractive, but doesn't have a personality and can't hold a conversation.

3.  FLOW

the way i go through life is very smooth.  it really makes me anxious when something breaks that momentum.  in dance, painting, poetry, swimming, walking, etc...there is a natural direction that everything takes.  where did it come from?  where is it going?  the movement needs to make sense.  this is what dictates my visual style.

“Collecting Souls Lost in the Shadows”

collecting souls through photography is something i enjoy doing.  for this mini-project of mine, i wanted to collect only their silhouettes.  here, you are unable to see the story or emotion in their faces…and can only assume their intentions based on the motions of their shadows.  this is a very somber collection of photos for me, because my cat just passed away.  everywhere i go, i see the shadow of where he used to be.

just got my photos back from my tuesday shoot with a model…and WOW.  this photo was taken for shits n giggles, and is separate from the project…but i want to post it because…LOOK AT IT!  haha.  i will post the series later today or tomorrow after i arrange them.  it’s a photo narrative.

this would look really nice mounted on a canvas.  to get this shot, i climbed a tree, held my camera up in the air, and snapped the shutter open.  i didn’t realize it would turn out this cool.
