The first time the crew met was at the cafeteria. I took Wang Yibo to the cafeteria with several other producers. Xiao Zhan and Wang Zhuo Cheng had already eaten there, and then we went to read the script after.
The cast invited Hua Yunxia, the acting instructor with whom they worked. Hua graduated from the Director Department of Shanghai Theatre Academy. After meeting Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, the first thing Hua Yunxia did was let the two people interact together. Her description of Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan is a rare confidant in life. Although they are quite different on the surface, their objective is the same inside. So her first job after joining the group was to get them to know each other.
Hua Yunxia: As soon as I came, I let them get acquainted with each other, play together so they will have more intimate feelings. I will take the initiative to bring them together when reading the script, so that they can talk more and communicate more ©

Xiao Zhan: My first impression of him was from our first reading session. He showed up looking like a boy next door wearing a hat. When we did our reading together, I thought he was kind of shy. Yang Xia jiejie, our producer told me “Quick! Talk to him! You’re Wei Wuxian! You have to go talk to him!” I was like? What should I say to him? My personality is a bit… I don’t warm up to strangers easily either. After 1 or 2 sessions, I felt like he’s pretty genuine. After we became closer, we both started behaving wildly and illogically. Yibo: I…didn’t notice that much, so there’s not much feeling (He’s teasing Xiao Zhan and Xiao Zhan fakes like he’s about to leave the premise before they both laughed together) I feel that he can talk very well, & loves talking. Better than me. I have less words
