And you find love and it stays with you.
Older women are so, so beautiful, and older trans women are no exception. Celebrate the beauty of our elders! Celebrate trans beauty!
I wanted to share some more of these, specifically trans women of color. The images I'm posting are from a project called To Survive On This Shore and it's an interview project. I am only posting a handful so it's so worth checking out!
This is Linda, 60
Alexis, 64
Helena, 63
Kendrah, 72 (!!)
Tasha, 65
It was deeply healing to me to discover this project. The site has selected photos and attached interviews and it's definitely worth your time. I didn't include any because the focus of this post imo is transfems but there are a lot of beautiful interviews with transmasc people too if you're interested! But that'll have to be another post 💖
for those interested, the photographer is Jess T. Dugan. The link to this particular project is as follows:

fantastic news for me, that after three days of hovering around a complete meltdown my brain finally decided to shut off the spiralling panic and despair and enter the "we're just going to plug away and what happens happens" state that I had sort of needed from the beginning. I didn't even end up crying!
Bear religion probably fucking rocks. You're a fucking bear, you're the deadliest thing on earth, once a year an endless supply of salmon just flings itself up the river to gorge on and then you nap for 3 months.
The most delicious food in the world is protected by tiny demons who can defend it from everyone except you. Your natural armor is thick enough that you can just eat the damn hive while they buzz around you. God's chosen animals right there
Regular bears tell stories of angel bears sent by the Bear God, pure white and twice as strong as any normal bear could be, who rule the summit of the Earth and kill all who stand in their path.
And they are right, those bears exist and totally do that. Humans just have fake angels as a cope.
love the idea of bears being the chosen species actually. having a near death experience and glimpsing heaven and realising it's just full of bears, no humans at all, humans not ensouled actually, humans an accidental byproduct of God's plan for bears

CAN ANYONE HEAR ME
went to a new optometrist today wearing my squid facts ‘save our freaks’ shirt from @sarahmackattack that has a strawberry squid on it. and i wasn’t even thinking about it but the optometrist walked in and he was like ‘oh what does your shirt say’ so i showed him and he was like ‘oh that’s neat!’ and then i thought he might like to know about strawberry squid eyes since they have weird eyes and he is an optometrist and all. so i was like ‘yeah it’s actually a real kind of squid called a strawberry squid, their eyes are really cool because they have one big yellow-green one and one small blue one’ and he kind of gasped and went ‘oh my god that’s so interesting i wonder why they have that. do you know what their retina composition is like?’ and i watched as he minimized my chart on the computer and started looking up images of strawberry squid and then he googled ‘strawberry squid retina composition’ and he was like ‘sorry we’ll get to your eye exam in a moment i just really want to find out’ LMAO 10/10 optometrist experience will be returning
Hell yeah
He’s in the right for that this is so cool
FOR THE CURIOUS: the big eye points up to scan for predators, the smaller eye points down to search for bioluminescence from creatures in the abyss below
have you made a post about the rainbow cuckoo wasp yet? they're absolutely stunning, probably one of the prettiest species of wasp out there, which is saying something because there are so many haha
Today's wasp of the day is the rainbow cuckoo wasp (Chrysis mionii)!
Credits: photo 1, photo 2
Disclaimer: This species used to be called C. concinna, and while that name is no longer considered valid it does seem to still be in use with some people so you'll see posted observations of this wasp under both names.
For those willing to brave the hottest and driest days of the South African summer, you may be rewarded with a glimpse of this tiny jewel flitting between flowers. Cuckoo wasps are truly a paradox; their entire life plan revolves around sneaking into the nests of other bees or wasps unnoticed and yet they are basically living disco balls. In fact, researchers are still not sure why cuckoo wasps are so colorful— is it a classic wasp case of warning colors? A bluff? Or is it simply a funky side-effect of how their extra tough exoskeletons are formed?
