and the final illustration (for now!) with thick as thieves! the only one to feature two characters, because imho there isn’t a single protagonist in tat, kamet and costis are equal deuteragonists and so much of the story focuses on their developing relationship. also, height difference.
the rest of the series
went a little bit into left field here by bringing 18th century clothing and weapons into it, but megan has said she never intended the series to be historically accurate so i’m using that as my defense!

number 2 in my queen’s thief illustration series, this one for qoa. i struggled a lot with the composition for this one because it’s hard to illustrate this book without giving away what happens, so it ended up being quite ambiguous.
hey queen’s thief tumblr, it’s been a minute* and im not sure how many people are still hanging around this place but i wanted to share the big project ive been working on in advance of RETURN OF THE THIEF, which was creating an illustration for each book in this pseudo-historical style inspired by grecian pottery. this is for the thief, obvs.
these were inked traditional using yasutomo sumi ink and rapidograph pens and then scanned and cleaned digitally

ghost swap for @raygirlramblings! i was really torn which of your prompts to do because i liked them all but my mind got caught on the image of pigeon man napping by the fire with lovey-dove so thats what i ended up doing! i hope you like it. i tried to include a bit of him and cabs’ relationship

rough sketch of my headcanons for keisha and oleta respectively, i modeled keisha a bit more closely after jasika and i think of her as shorter and a bit rounder in the hips and shoulders. oleta is a runner, so her legs are more defined. i think of her as taller, with a more angular face.
im doing that thing where i go back to art from last year and redo to make myself feel like i improved soooooo...repaint of this alex pin-up
