They’d met so many times over the years, drifting in and out of each other’s lives like the moon and the sun, only sometimes destined to be in the same sky together. There had always been some inescapable pull towards the other man; at times Leon felt as though he were slowly orbiting closer and closer, drawn in nearer on each rotation. And now he was dying. He knew it in his bones, could see it in the black splotches on his hands and the way his veins ran black at his wrists. He was tired. Chris said they'd find a way out of it but Leon...Leon was a realist. So he did the only thing he knew how to do: he kept moving forward. Unstoppable, relentless. Back to Raccoon City, back to where it all began...

CHAPTER FIVE EXCERPT He dragged in a ragged breath and stepped over to the sink.  It was tidy.  Of course it was.  Ever the military man, Chris kept his apartment almost spotless.  The ‘almost’ was because of Leon.  It made his heart weak every time he saw a cushion out of place, jammed between the back and arm of the couch so he could lean against it and ease the ache in his back.  It made his heart beat faster whenever he came over and the coffee cup he’d last used was still on the kitchen counter.  And it made his heart ache when he noticed that the pillow on ‘his’ side of the bed clearly hadn’t been moved since his head last found it.  The mess was Chris’ own way of keeping Leon close, even when they had to be apart.
