You and Rodrick are as thick as thieves, an effect that comes with practically being attached at the hip since you were kids. But lately, you can’t help but act as anyone but yourself around him, maybe it had something to do with your newly developed crush on him. The once small issue became so uncontrollable that it’s been affecting your performance in the band, how were you gonna fucking explain that.
You Need Him? I Could Be Him! :3🥁
I feel like I always write Reader liking Rodrick while he likes Heather, but like what if its the other way round. Aka your stereotypical friends help each other out by getting the other together with their respective love interest but you end up liking each other.

Tws! Throwup, but there will be a divider telling you when to skip
Wc: 3.1k
You lived a normal life, had an average boyfriend, worked usual shifts at the local supermarket, and to top it all off; you even had a shitty landlord. Everything in your life was as mundane and habitual as it could be, except for the fact that you were not normal. Some sacrifice gone wrong led you to skip a few towns after leaving a massacre in your wake. So now here you were living life as Riley Barker. The small town hadn’t caught wind of your infamy miraculously, because if they had then the old lady down the street wouldn’t be having you over for freshly baked cookies. Instead, you would be locked up in an institution, that is, if you could even be held by one in the first place, but you weren’t eager to test that theory.
You liked life as it was now despite it not being the life you had originally planned.
Thunk!
You smiled as your window slid open, this was something your new life had blessed you with. “Toby!” You opened your arms wide as the disheveled boy made his way over to where you found yourself on the bed.
“Hey Angel.” He grinned, a shudder wracking through his body, filling the air with a crack as he fell into your arms, a small oof leaving you as you got pressed into the mattress.
Your hands found his hair, playing with the slight waves as you brushed through any tangles. His arms tightened around your waist, and it almost made you forget the guilt you felt for having someone so close, almost.
“I still don’t know why you insist on coming through my window, how was work?” You asked, distracting the noise in your brain and deciding to focus on the present, because you deserve something nice, although, you did just eat someone for breakfast.
“Cuh-Cus it makes you smile,” he removed his face from your chest, smiling softly at you before sighing, “ It was the wuh-worst, Tuh-Tim was on my ass again about ‘getting tuh-tu-too distracted’ and the tar-cussss-tomers almost left.”
A sharp jolt in his neck that would’ve had anyone cringe in discomfort had you rubbing circles into it in order to ease the muscles. You knew he couldn’t feel pain, but that didn’t mean his body wasn't un-affected. You hummed, waiting for him to continue his little rant, your boyfriend was ever the drama queen.
“ I wuh-wasn’t distr-trac-ted, I was just,,,” He grumbled, indicating that he was, indeed distracted, but was trying to save face in front of you.
You shook your head and chuckled, knowing him all too well, and kissed him on the forehead, when you pulled back, he looked at you as if you hung the stars in the sky; if only he knew. Taking a deep breath at that thought, you quickly brushed it off, “ I’m sure whatever was on your mind was very important.”
“ Nuh-nuh-nothing wuh-was on my muh-muh-mind!” He defended, tips of his ears red, a tell-tale sign that he was lying, although the stuttering and the increase in sporadic jolts could’ve told anyone that.
You laughed, shaking your head as he huffed before continuing, “ Be-besides I guh-got it done any-wuh-ways. Shu-shu-should’ve seen it, I was-” He cut himself off, and you paid no mind to it. You were too distracted by your internal monologue to notice, but Toby certainly did.
“ Wuh-what’s wrong?” He asked head shaking and another crack filled the silence before you answered.
You let out a deep sigh, and you could feel the worn expression on your face, “ I dunno, I’m pretty tired, guess I didn’t eat enough today.”
You watched as he frowned, his brows furrowing in concern, and that made your stomach churn. “ It’s fine Toby, really, I’ll just eat a big breakfast.”
You laughed wryly, the room suddenly feeling too small, and the proximity overwhelming. Toby tsked, sitting you up, his hands on either of your shoulders as he stared at you. You hated when he looked at you like this. It made you feel small, like you were under a microscope, and you were scared of what he might find. You broke first, turning your head away, and gently pushing his hands off of your shoulders, the weight of his gaze could be so heavy sometimes, it made you feel as if you were a doe in the woods. It was something you brushed off, it’s not as if he could do you any harm, he was just so mysterious at times.
“ Nah, I’ve guh-got cash, we’re guh-getting pizza.” He grinned smugly, too busy fishing for his phone to pick up on your brief panic. You had always managed to avoid eating with him excuses ranging from; oh I already ate; no we can’t eat out I’m broke; and, I’m not hungry. But the determination in his expression as he ordered made you feel too bad to come up with yet another sorry excuse. It was sweet really, and if you were any other person, no, if you were a person you would’ve been touched.
You gave him a small smile once he hung up, wrapping your arms around him and inhaling his scent; however, you pulled away when your mouth started to water. “ Thanks Tobs, you’re so sweet.”
“ Aw shu-shucks Angel.” He shuddered, going in for a kiss, and you obliged.
It was so easy to get lost in him, the kiss beginning to deepen as his hands began to rest on your hips. You let him pull you closer, ignoring the fact that your mouth watered at the thought of devouring him moments prior. You decided you would let him devour you instead, and maybe that would get rid of the guilt. He bit your bottom lip and you shuddered, his hands trembling while he rubbed circles into your hips. Your movements were hesitant as your hands went to his hair, tugging just the way you knew he liked it.
You were rewarded with a deep groan, he took your bottom lip into his mouth, and you parted yours. Your back arched into him, his hands beginning to roam your waist while he sucked on your tongue. The air began to grow hot, his hands leaving sparks in their wake.
The buzz of his phone made you both pull away reluctantly, his lips were glossy, and you bet yours were too.
“ Tuh-tuh-talk about speedy duh-liv-livery.” He grumbled, getting off the bed and you followed.
You weren’t keen on eating in your room, the smell would stick and you shuddered at the thought. Walking down the steps, you watched Toby as he opened the door and pulled a wad of singles out of his pocket. “ Kuh-keep the chu-change.” He muttered, shutting the door before the delivery guy could get a word.
“ So you do know where my front door is.” You teased, grabbing the remote as you flicked the television on.
“ Uhm obviously, I just chu-chu-choose not tuh-to use it?” He smiled cheekily, you rolled your eyes, throwing a pillow at him as you scoffed.
He caught it effortlessly, and his reflexes always managed to surprise you, “ Duh-don’t act luh-like you don’t lik-like it.”
“ Whatever!” You retorted, reaching for the box and setting it down on the table.
“ Wuh-want anything tuh-to drink?” You heard his voice trail as he walked off to the kitchen.
“ Waters fine! What do you wanna watch?” You called out, hearing the tap turn on after he dug through your cabinets.
“ Whu-whu-whatever you wanna wuh-watch!” He replied, and you heard his footsteps pad over as he settled on the couch, “ I guh-got plates.”
“ Smart.” You praised while you settled into him, watching wearily as he got you a slice.
You chose a random movie, and you cringed when you realized you had, ironically, picked Jennifer’s Body. You could hear Toby chew beside you, already on his second slice while you were still trying to take a bite of the first one. The movie was only heightening your anxiety rather than serving as a distraction, and you frowned when you saw her get into that van.
The plate in your hands felt heavier than it should’ve, and you couldn’t tell if your hands were shaking as you brought the slice to your mouth. Your mouth was open, hand stopping right before it could get between your teeth. You watched as Jennifer ripped open the fridge, and you felt your throat bob as you swallowed dryly. You heard your teeth clack as you clamped down, and you weren’t used to the lack of force you had to use compared to when you actually ate. You wondered how long it had been since you had a slice of pizza, it felt wrong in your mouth, it tasted wrong. It was too mushy, you swallowed, too foreign, and you took another bite right as Jennifer threw up black on the screen.
“ Honestly, I wuh-was beginning tuh-too, th-thu-think you didn’t eat.” Toby joked, a jolt jostling you, and you didn’t even realize he was watching you.
You could feel yourself beginning to sweat on the back of your neck, and your thoughts began to consume you. Your smile was shaky, and his playful grin made you realize that you had to answer.
“ I do, just…” You couldn’t even think of what to say. You were too caught up in your own head to joke. Thankfully, you didn’t have to.
-Tw-
You shot up, feeling the rush of saliva as it entered your mouth.
“ Angel?” You heard Toby softly call as you sped walk to the bathroom.
You made it just in time, sinking into the floor as you wretched. You had the horrific realization that there was a subtle smell of iron in the air. You flushed it quickly right as Toby made his way into the room. You felt his hand rub soothing circles on your back, and the familiar cracks of his neck comforted you in a way.
“ Duh-did you huh-huh-hurt your-sel-self? Smuh-smells like-” You cut Toby off with a gag, expelling not just your own guts, but someone else’s into the toilet.
You flushed it once more, and made the unfortunate decision to wipe the bile on your sleeve.
-all done-
You looked at your boyfriend, eyes already watering from what had just happened, but you just felt wrong. His shaky hand cradled your face, and you couldn’t even let yourself lean into it. The small frown on his face made you feel worse because you knew he could feel your hesitance. He closed the lid, sitting you on it as he looked you over.
“ Thu-thu-thought you huh-huh-hit yuh-you’re head or sum-sum-thing.” He said softly, grabbing a glass of water that you didn’t even know he brought in here, and handed it to you.
Your brows furrowed, “ Why’s that?” You asked curiously, there’s no way he could’ve.
“ Thu-thought I smuh-smuh-smelled blood.” He stated bluntly, and if your heart hadn’t dropped at that sentiment, you would’ve seen him scramble.
“ I muh-muh-mean! Uh-uhm!” He was shaking now, cracks more frequent, and there were shudders that wracked through his body.
The sharp blaring of Toby’s ringer cut through the air, distracting the both of you, and he muttered a curse before picking it up. “ Toby, where are you?” The voice hissed through the line, and you could hear muffled yelling from the end of the line while Toby walked off.
You sniffed around you, wondering how he could’ve possibly picked up on the faint odor that permeated throughout the air. That thought was quickly cut off as you sprayed febreeze, the fact that he had smelt it was enough to send you into another spiral. Already jumping to the illogical conclusion that somehow he found out, and you debated moving once more. You thought about where you would go, and what you would do; more specifically, what would you do without him?
You shakily opened the door, and found that Toby was already about to open the door to check on you again.
“ I-I-I’ve guh-gotta guh-go.” He muttered, neck jerking, and his avoidant gaze made you wonder if your suspicions were true.
“ Work?” You mumbled, looking down and hoping that the answer was yes.
“ Yuh-yeah, Tim’s being a ruh-real assss-asshole.” Toby grumbled, dramatically throwing his head onto your shoulder and wrapping his arms around your waist.
You hugged him back weakly, your sigh muffled by his chest. You felt a chaste kiss on your neck, and he gave you a small peck as he pulled back.
“ Suh-sorry Angel, I knu-know you are-aren’t fuh-feeling the best.” He frowned, and you mirrored his expression.
“ It’s okay, Tobs, probably for the best.” You weren’t lying, because, unfortunately, you had to do something about your stomach ache.
You pressed a kiss onto his lips, and followed him as he made his way to the door. You watched as he looked around, making sure he didn’t forget anything, and he shook his head softly, probably remembering he didn’t even bring anything to begin with.
You shut the door softly behind him, and you would’ve made a joke about him finally using the door if you were in better spirits. However, the simple task at hand haunted your thoughts.
You had to eat.
Blood poured from your mouth, and the sickening sound of bones crunching filled your room. The body was warm underneath you, no longer struggling, and no longer hurting. You felt disgusting though, you always did while you ate. You tried to ignore how much you enjoyed the taste as you swallowed, how warm and rich the blood was.
You did feel better physically though. Your stomach ache long forgotten as you went in for another bite, and you shuddered at the wet squelch that resonated from beneath you.
A loud shatter from above had you shrieking out a sound you didn’t even know you were capable of. Shards of glass reigned down upon you, and you growled out on instinct. Looking up, everything came to a halt when you saw your boyfriend heaving in your windowsill donning goggles, and some kind of faceguard .There was a wet plop on the ground as organs dropped from your mouth onto the floor. The silence was loud, but your breath heavy in your ears was even louder.
“ Thu-thank go-god you ah-ah-aren’t chu-cheating on muh-me.” He delivered bluntly, however all you could focus on was the fact that your secret was out.
“ Toby? What are-You weren’t supposed to-” You voice trembled as words tumbled out, broken window forgotten as the thud of him dropping into your room cut you off.
You shuffled back, flinching when you looked down at the corpse on your floor. Toby stopped in his tracks, “ Oh-Oh-Okay, luh-let’s juh-just take a suh-sec.”
He propped his hatchet up on the wall, and your eyes darted to it; but when you looked back at him, you realized that he was covered in blood. You shot up, hands reaching for him, “ Toby! Are you okay?”
“ Am I oh-okay?” He asked, jaw clenching as his shoulders rolled. Confusion written across his face until the pieces clicked, and he began to laugh as if it was the funniest thing in the world.
“ Toby, seriously, this isn’t funny, bloodloss is no joke.” You chided, concern overwriting your anxiety as was his nonchalance to everything.
“ An-an-angel, it’s nuh-nuh-not mine.” He replied, still chuckling as he made his way over to you, undoing the straps on what appeared to be some kind of muzzle-esque mask the more you looked at it.
“ Suh-Suh-see?” He bantered, arms held out to his sides, and you went to inspect him.
“ Oh.” You mumbled, mind beginning to wander back to earlier today before continuing, “ Is that why Tim called you?”
“ Yuh-yuh-yup.” He stated plainly, nose scrunching while he shuddered.
“ So, are you like a… hunter?” You questioned, pieces of information lost on you as you came to your own conclusion.
“ A huh-hunter, suh-suh-seriously?” Toby guffawed as he ran a hand over his face which pushed his goggles up out of his eyes, however it did add to the mess of red that decorated his face.
“ What! You want me to ask if you’re some kind of–some kind of serial killer?” You exclaimed, face warm with embarrassment.
He just paused, giving you a look that was telling you to ‘be for real’, and suddenly his un-phased demeanor to the gory scene in your room made sense.
“ Oh my god!” You exclaimed, hands shooting up in the air as he, once again, began to laugh at your expense.
“ Uh-uh-honestly.” Toby scratched his neck, looking off to the side as he connected dots in his head.
“ It all muh-makes sense nuh-nuh-now.”
“ It all makes sense now.”
You both shook your heads at each other, and for the first time ever, you felt the weight of everything leave you. And maybe that’s what compelled you to say the words that came out of your mouth next.
“ I love you.” It was the first time either of you had said it, and you know for a fact that you meant it.
Toby gaped, and you fought back the urge to tease as you finally managed to silence the chatter-box.
“ I luh-love you too.” He breathed out, sounding taken aback as he looked at you with the same fondness he always had. Except this time, he saw you for who you really were, and was still here despite that fact.
He wrapped you in his arms, and you finally didn’t feel guilty as you pressed a kiss to his lips. A particularly harsh gust of wind had you pulling back, and it made you realize the literal crime scene you two were in the center of.
“ You’re totally paying for my window repair, Toby.” You softly scolded, as you took a small step back.
He scratched the back of his head sheepishly, “ In muh-my defense, I thu-thought you wuh-were chu-chea-cheating on muh-muh-me.”
“ That’s seriously what you were worried about?” You exclaimed incredulously, pointing to the body on the floor,” I was elbows deep in intestine, and that’s what you were worried about?”
“ Wuh-wuh-well I duh-didn’t know thu-that puh-par-part! Buh-be-side-besides, you thu-thought I wuh-was a huh-hunter!” He protested, looking at you as you glared at him with hands on your hips.
Your room was silent for a moment before you both burst out into laughter. Shaking your head before going in for another kiss. You weren’t concerned with the fact that there was a body on the floor, or that you were covered in blood, because he was too. Instead, you relished in the fact that you finally felt normal.
messes me up inside that tim thinks everything is his fault in the other reality even though clearly jay and alex are bound to be under the operators influence eventually. or maybe its because of the other reality that jay and alex are going through this.
“ You know, you really shouldn’t be smoking those.” He called, before he could even register the thought to speak.
The reason why he did so was lost to him, maybe it was because deep down he craved a sense of normalcy, proof of humanity that he had long since lost.
no explicit hurt but just comfort??? pretty ooc Tim but at the same time kinda in character?? fs self indulgent.

Sounds of a summer night filled the air, insects buzzed and the occasional car drove by. It would’ve been peaceful had it not been for the sinister actions occurring in the house across the street.
Tim took it upon himself to keep watch that night, cigarette hanging from his lips as he waited for Brian to finish the job. Normally he would’ve been inside with him, but the small suburban neighborhood made him extra cautious.
Not that he had to worry honestly, anyone in the house would be sleeping at 3am, but missions that took an unexpected turn caused him to be mindful. A figure walking up the block caused him to tense, and he hoped screams didn’t break the silence of the night.
From the looks of it, it was a teen, and he watched in amusement as in similar fashion, a cigarette was perched in between their lips, the smell wafting down the street. Although he couldn’t tell if it was from them, or him.
“ You know, you really shouldn’t be smoking those.” He called, before he could even register the thought to speak.
The reason why he did so was lost to him, maybe it was because deep down he craved a sense of normalcy, proof of humanity that he had long since lost.
“You know, you shouldn’t be either.” They had called.
And to his surprise, they sauntered on over after flicking the cigarette butt out of their hands. He critiqued their survival instincts in his mind, chiding them of their stupidity.
“ Trust me kid, a cigarette or two won’t kill me.” He scoffed, telling a joke only he would know to laugh at, as they wouldn’t know there was an eldritch entity keeping him alive.
They chuckled and shook their head,” That's what they all say man.”
He shrugged having no response and pulled another out the pack in his jacket pocket.
“I like your jacket, can I bum a cig off you?” They asked unashamed, and their boldness made a puff of air escape his nose.
“Oh so you kiss my ass and expect me to give you a cigarette?” He asked, amusement in his tone as he looked over.
“Yup.” They said, popping the p as they looked over at him.
His eyes softened once he actually got a good look at them, because they had the same look in their eyes that he recognized in the mirror.
Helplessness
He pinched the bridge of his nose, as he considered the morality of giving what was to him a literal child, a cigarette. Which was almost as amusing as it was depressing. He sighed, reaching into his pocket and pulling out another, begrudgingly dropping it into their hands.
They cheered softly, and he knew he wouldn’t hear the end of how soft he was being if Toby was here.
“Thanks, kind sir!” They spoke with a purposefully horrible accent that made him snort.
“ No problem kid.” He spoke gruffly looking back at the house across the street, thankful that Brian was taking his sweet fucking time.
There was a calm silence that filled the air, smoke disappearing off into the night. After a seemingly short amount of time, he saw the remains of a cigarette fly off into the grass. Tim looked at them out of the corner of his eye.
“ Jesus, you inhaled that quick.” He couldn’t mask the poorly hidden shock on his face.
While he had been an avid smoker, something about a kid huffing cigs like their life depended on it made him oddly concerned?
“ How else am I supposed to smoke them genius?” They shot back, arms crossed as they looked over questioningly.
“ Atleast savor the thing?” He jokingly criticized, flicking his own off into the grass.
“ God forbid I enjoy a cigarette or two!” They replied, arms raising into the air.
He chuckled at that, hating how endearingly human this whole interaction was becoming.
“ Yeah god forbid. You’re too young to be smoking.” He replied wryly, getting comfy on the wooden guardrail positioned behind him.
“ Whatever,” They scoffed before they spoke again,” anyone wants to smoke when they’re crashing out late at night.”
Tim quirked a brow at that, and while slang was often lost to him, he could tell it wasn’t anything positive. And the way they threw it out there made it seem like they wanted him to pry, a small cry for help that for once, he wasn’t the cause of.
“ And why were you ‘crashing out’.” He said the phrase stiffly, clearly not something that he said often, and that caused them to let out a small laugh.
“ I don’t know, I’m just meh?” He fought the urge to make a comment on their poor word choice as they got ready to continue.
“ It’s like, I’m fine, I feel fine until it's too quiet and I realize I feel this way and I’ve never stopped feeling this way.” This ramble of theirs was becoming hauntingly familiar to Tim and it became almost uncomfortably similar to his own feelings.
“ It’s just— god, I hate not knowing why I feel like this, so.. empty? And I’m scared It’s never gonna leave me because even if I have nothing to feel like shit about, I still feel. like. shit.” They sighed, looking up at the sparse stars in the sky.
Wordlessly, Tim reaches into his pocket and slides a cigarette their way. The sound of flicking lighters fills the air shortly and Tim exhales.
“ I hear ya.” Was all he could offer as he thought about what else to say.
Comforting people was pretty foreign to him, and he had grown even more cynical than how he was before the whole murdering people for the Operator thing.
“ Mmmmuh-most people run, yuh-you’re duh-duh-different, I like that!” He chirped, eyes widening in fascination behind his goggles.
“ Thanks,” You responded dryly,” Besides, I can’t exactly run when you can throw these things can I?” You asked sarcastically, shaking the weapon in your hand for emphasis.
He looked to the side inquisitively, blinking harshly before a cheeky grin came onto his face,” Funny tuh-too, the huh-whole package! Suh-say doll wuh-what's your name?”
Rolling your eyes at the pet name, your grip tightened around the weapon, and against better judgement, you gave him your name,” So you can stop with the pet names, it makes you sound like a creep.”
You almost laughed at the irony of your statement, and it seemed he found it funny too, shaking his head with amusement as he chuckled.
“ What’s your name Goggles?”
“ M’names Toby, you wouldn’t mmuh-mind putting down the hatchet nuh-now, wuh-would you? Wouldn’t want mmuh-my pretty fuh-face getting cha-chopped up.”
